    Favorite Genres:
Contemporary roots music (Iron and Wine, Gillian Welch, etc.). Lyrically intelligent music (Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Rogers & Hammerstein/Hart). Timeless, heartfelt folk. Basically I'm a sucker for a good singer, putting a good song across.
    Gigs and Ensembles:
I mostly back up singer/songwriters at small, acoustic venues in the San Francisco Bay area. Haven't been in a band for a while now, but open to new collaborations and projects. I own electrics, but my heart is in the double bass.
    G.A.S. List:
My battle-scarred old Kay has mojo, but I'm keeping an eye out for a more arco-friendly instrument. One of these days...
Professionally, I'm a writer of fiction and nonfiction. I also create and invest in technology. I'm on the board of the Squaw Valley Community of Writers and of The Grotto, a co-working space/incubator for contemporary media in downtown San Francisco.

I've written and/or edited five books, and I'm currently (and simultaneously) working on six and seven. Music, being nonverbal, is sort of a sanity thing.
