I started playing bass to impress a girl at age 16 in 1998. She was unimpressed. My first purchase was a Squier Affinity P-Bass, and I didn't buy an amp because my grandpa had left a 1958 Fender Champ to me (ack!!!). Luckily, I didn't play on it much before realizing I needed something better.

My first real amp setup was a Peavey Mark III head and 2 Genz-Benz cabs (a 12 and a 15). I've been a Genz-Benz guy ever since. I'm in no way affiliated with Genz Benz and have never tried to be; I just love the look and sound of their cabs. I'm going on 15 years with one of my GB210T-XB cabs, and it has treated me well. I've been using just a pair of them in my rig ever since I got my second one some time in 2005.

For over a decade, I've had an obsessive love affair with Warwick Basses, and in that time, owned a ton of them. At one point I was completely retired from playing for a few years, and had sold off all my basses. When I got the itch to play again, I wasn't looking to get very serious but wanted another 6-string, so I went for something cheap and used, and ended up with the SR506BM, which I absolutely love. I also longed for the overall bite of a Fender P or J, and when I first played the Chinese-made Modern Player Jazz, I was thrilled with the tone, the feel, the look... everything. It's the first brand new bass I bought since 1999 when I bought my first Ibanez 6! I haven't regretted the Fender a bit, and recently bought a Modern Player Jazz 5 as well. My most recent acquisition is a Warwick Streamer Stage II 5-string, a bass I've always wanted.

I've recently gotten into effects, and find myself a bit obsessed/addicted. This is a new chapter for me, as I've never been into that sort of thing. We'll see where this goes!
