Pros:
Cool features and accurate playback
Cons:

Very hard to use, memory gets erased easily.
This isn\'t a very good looper. It\'s hard to use. It\'s hard to figure out what the features do unless you read through the manual carefully. One wrong step, and everything you did gets erased.

Pros:

Easy to use, sounds good live, cheap, 5 minutes plus time

Cons:
access to the other loops is tough

For the money, this is a great looper. It\'s very simple to use, and you have a HUGE amount of time to play with. I compared it with the line 6 before purchase and this, IMO, is far more useful and natural sounding. Best you can get without spending the money for an echoplex.
edit, price paid changed after someone pointed it out to me, sorry for the typo. It was 220 not 120.

Pros:

Sturdy, big pedals, multiple saved loops
Cons:

Click function sounds crap! Slight compression of sound
It\'s not too costly, it\'s dead easy to use and it has ten stored loop features.
The only slight problem I had are that I found it colours the sound of the bass slighty, almost as if compressing the sound.
It has a built in click which is totally crap - a total waste of space. The reverse function is great, but mainly leads to you making nasty noises.
The best thing is that it\'s built to last and easy to use - a great learning, writing an practicing tool

Pros:

Long looping time, affordable for a beginning looper, intuative controls, small shape
Cons:

NO FEEDBACK CONTROL!!!
Very nice looper for a beginner, it's no EDP or Looperlative, but very capable looper in it's own right. The only gripe that i have is no feedback control, which means that if you are done with a particular loop, all you can really do is just hit stop. with a feedback control, you can fade out the loop nicely.
Otherwise, i'd highly recommend this to someone just getting into looping. It doesn't have the advanced functions that the EDP or looperlative has, like multiply, but its a good cheap looper

Pros:

Easy to use, tons of loop space, cool settings

Cons:

crappy sounding metronome, occassionally odd behavior

My only real problem with the RC-20xl is that it isn't the RC-50. That said it's an excellent loop station -- especially for its price. It has a lot of the professional features you'd expect: auto start, tempo adjustment, multiple inputs, reverse setting, easy undo function, more.
Good for practice, play and songwriting. Eleven savable loops and up to seventeen minutes of loop time time means you can keep all of those really excellent pieces. Reading the manual is definately recquired for some cool functions such as fade-outs, but otherwise plug-n-play.

Easy to Use, Slow Down, Reverse, Sturdy

A little confusing (read manual and u should be fine)
Im not sure which loop station this is about (there is a pic of the twin pedal RC-20 and the single) but I recently purcased from a TB'er the Twin Pedal Boss RC-20XL and I love it.
It is very easy to use once you read the manual so u know what ur doing. It has very good sound quality and a Quantize feauture which can make it much easier to produce accurate loops.
I would reccomend this product highly.

U're able to load the strings and stuff and have an orchestra playing with you live on stage :)
Cons:

I guess it's a little hard to record the loop live.. very risky.. the begining of the loop might not match the scale :(
My guitar player tries!! to use this one.. Still he couldn't manage to record a loop while he played.. He records alright but there happens a gap btw the end-start of the loop recorded.. i guess he couldn't figure out when to step in and out... but he should have if it was sooo easy )
There are much more easier ones out there..

This is a review for the newer model - the RC-20XL
I don't get why some think this is hard to use. If you spend 5 minutes with the manual you're done.
Timing the loop start and stop time can be tricky, but that's just part of the skillset required. Like anything else you need to practice with this and treat the pedal as an instrument on its own. I have an Akai Headrush looper as well, but that one doesn't save loops and can only create loops seconds long versus the 16 minutes I can loop on the Boss looper.
The ability to set a time signature for a loop is very nice and helps to make for better loops. For example, setting a loop to a time signature of 10/4 allowed me to get a nice 2 measure loop in 5. This works much better than accepting the defaults and trying to loop odd meter patterns.
Another plus is the ability to save the loops you create. It saves up to 11 separate 16 minute loops, and you can switch through them with a foot pedal. The fade out feature is nice.
It's not without its faults - the sound quality seems a little thin, but this can be fixed with some EQ. It's more noticeable if you're going into a mixing board, for live work through an amp it's not that noticeable. If this unit had MIDI sync it would be the perfect small looper pedal for me.
The RC-50 has a lot more features that would be very helpful for live looping, Midi Sync, the ability to layer loops and so on, but for the price the RC-20XL is a nice looping pedal and can give great results with a little practice.
