The Radial Tonebone Bassbone is a smart EQ/DI pedal that manages your bass signal with 2 separate channels and a powerful EQ that overrides the preamp's tone settings. The Tonebone allows switching between a traditional passive bass and a modern active bass during a gig without lengthy and awkward adjustments to the preamp, EQ, amp, and instrument level. This EQ and DI Box can also be used with a single bass to provide 2 separate signals. The integrated boost, variable gain, and effects loop can be used individually or together. A balanced XLR out sends the complete signal direct to the board for PA-only gigs and studio time. Added heft and punch to your tone is like a secret weapon. The Radial Tonebone Bassbone is powered by a 15VDC power supply.
Radial Tonebone Bassbone Features:
2 channels for easy bass switching or signal enhancement

Effects loop
2 - 1/4" ins
Balanced XLR out
1/4" out to amp
1/4" TRS jack for FX loop
1/4" tuner jack

The Radial Tonebone Bassbone is an innovative idea that needed to be materialized into exactly this unit. It is actually, an active a-b box with boost capabilities, a tuner input, and eq features for both channels. It also has a built in di, and Radial di's alone have a great reputation in the business.
I just got mine, used it for the first time at band rehearsal, through my rig, and also went out of the integral di into the board, to test that feature. The jacks feel sturdy, the switches are quiet with no added pops or noise anywhere to be found. The controls and switches work as they should. I dig the multi-colored l.e.d.'s on the switch assigns. The metal housing seems like it'll last a long time. The boost switch is very cool and highly effective. The three position eq switch on channel one is really good, I run my active five string bass with onboard eq through it. I ran my passive Fender p-bass through channel two and the 3 band rotary eq is straightforward and effective as well. It is really easy to a-b your basses to get them equal in volume. I got this unit to play some upcoming gigs that there will be no amps allowed onstage, just in-ears. I wanted to be able to have a 'bass control center' for my instruments, and my own high quality di box. This was the answer to that need. A lot of venues bassists will be working are in-ears only now, and I want MY sound going out to the engineer. I also tried a friend's Sansamp bass di...a nice sounding unit, but this does WAY more, without coloration.
In summation, after hearing it, the di works really well, and the usefulness of this unit seems assured.
UPDATE: 8-22-08
I've been using this since May in the band I'm in, and it has been a great addition to my 'arsenal'...a HIGHLY useful and dependable tool, even if, as I am now, only using one bass at a time - (my bandmates grew tired of me switching!) So, no more modern 5 string and p-bass with flats on the same gig! The DI is really high quality. I get compliments on my di- foh sound from other bassists I know and respect. The rotary eq is very musical, and the unit almost always can be left at the settings you used on the last gig. I love the tuner out, one short cable to it... I don't use effects, but its' nice to have that option. My advice on this and other 'portable' devices, KEEP the original packaging, I box it up in the box it came in, after every gig...and then into the accessory pocket of my gig bag. This is a new policy for me. It still looks great, and I want to keep it that way. Summary: There's really nothing else on the market quite like this. I wanted to get a DI and eq box for my gigs. I looked at the Phil Jones bass Buddy, but that or other units like the Sansamp can't do what the Tonebone Bassbone does. I'm happy I chose this unit.

I got this unit because I wasn't particularly happy with the sansamp. But I am very happy bassist now. This thing sounds great, the tone you get out of it is truly amazing without changing the identity of your bass. I used it live and in the studio and I got praises from everybody about it's sound and clean signal. It's built tough and absolutely reliable. No matter where or what I'm playing I'm not leaving the house without my bassbone anymore!

like the other review, i needed a DI box for 2 basses on my in ear gig. i started with a basspod floor unit that just didn't work(thin sound, way too busy). then i went looking for an EBS Micro Bass II because most reviews said it was very warm. none in town! 2 of my buddies recommended the Radial line so i'm ready for my gig tomorrow.i am very satisfied with this unit, sound, construction, price and features. the only tricky part was finding the correct cable to utilize the effects loop.
I used my unit with a Pavel Jazz Pro Deluxe 5 and a Lakland Skyline Deluxe fretless 5, EBS Bass IQ and MXR Dyna comp and BossDD-3 Digital Delay.the pavel sounds great in either channel so i run it flat in ch 1. i did a full sound check through my pa at home and the real test is tomorrow

This little powerhouse is so awsome, I use it everyday.
I can plug in both my stage basses and they are independant.
So on one channel I can set my eq and levels for that bass, and channel 2 is set for bass 2. It has some awsome effects.

Clean A/B switching - Jensen Transformer
|
|
Cons:
|
Tuner on off pops after when turned on & off
|

The clean "uncolored" sound when flat is exactly what I wanted! Changing to a single channel amp and playing a fair amount of fretless required the ability for a quick change of basses between songs. The A/B switching allows for tone settings for each individual bass. My fretless requires a bit more adjustment to the midrange, so Channel 2 is perfect for the fretless and Channel 1 is Flat or two preset sounds. The sound engineers love the signal and cleanliness. I love the "Boost" feature allowing to increase the signal without altering tone at all. I highly recommend the BASSBONE for anyone as you can channel switch if you're using just one bass as well.
