This bass suits my playing style very well, i play mostly, hard rock, blues and soul and it sounds very nice and warm. Due to it`s wood characteristics it has a very well balanced sound, not too dark or too bright, which makes this bass a very versatile instrument.
I use it trough a warwick profetIV and a 4X10 cabinet, and in the studio i use a Behringer BDI21 bass DI. In both situations i also use a Boss LMB-2 limiter, for better control. When I want to get a "Toolish" tone i add an analog delay and a Boss flanger BF-2, producing good results.
Just don`t push the treble boost too much or it will get a bit noisy.
The only complain about this bass goes to the electronics. I wish this one came with a better onboard preamp and with bartolini pus (like bartolini W4). I never upgraded it, but Im convinced that it would make a huge difference and make it sound like a Pro level bass.
I find it a very beautiful instrument, very well balanced, well built, with goog playability, very fast and slim neck, and nice sound. If you are a slap fan, there are better basses for you out there,( due to it´s slim neck) but if you like to play fast finger style, you just have to try this Washburn necks.

After owning a XS-2 Axxess bass by Washburn and being very impressed by it in 90'-91', when it came time for me to upgrade, I stuck with Washburn. I bought my XB-400 Bantam new in 1995 and it did a decent job, but a couple years later, I had Bartolini W4's and Bartolini NTBT preamp installed by Jim Mouradian. The sound is much more condensed and defined, now. I also installed a Hipshot on the E string, so that I could play baroque bassoon pieces.
The bass is fast, good looking (transparent blue) and light.
One temporary problem I had at first was that around the 11th-12th fret, mostly on the low side, the frets extended past the edge of the fretboard, not exactly smooth, so I had to have that taken care of. I haven't heard of any other problems with quality control of the Korean Bantam series basses.
