A bass with neck-thru, independant bridge and custom barts pup. How much will you pay for it? My mind says a beauty like that would come close to $2000 bucks. That's before I start laying my eyes on this 6 string Soundgear Prestige bass. Many people seem to associate Soundgears with crappy guitars. Well not this axe though. This bass fullfill every single criteria I need : Style, versatility and affordable. Not to mention this comes with a high quality case which could easily worth $200.
I'm still a student and I do play a wide variety of music from jazz to metal. However being not able to afford multiple basses for specific purposes, what I need is the 1 that can do it all. Just mess a little with the eq on this bass and I'm able to get all the tones I needed for the songs I play.
Overall this is a great bass to get for people who wants a 'do it all bass'. Thanks Ibanez for making this great axe

I recently purchased a new SR1006EFM-NTF, 6 string neck-thru Bass. At the time this instrument was a new product and my local music store did not have one for me to try. I’ve always been impressed with the ‘higher end’ Ibanez products so I took a chance and ordered one online. When the instrument arrived I was very impressed with its beautiful craftsmanship; I particularly like the size and feel of the neck (the case is of equal quality!). The sound range the Bartolini pick-ups provide is better than expected. I was very surprised that it was manufactured in Korea; it’s truly an elegant instrument! However, I was equally surprised and sadly disappointed at how heavy and unbalanced this particular instrument is. The neck is noticeably heavier than the body causing annoying adjustment issues while playing; it’s more comfortable to play sitting, than standing using a conventional shoulder strap. It surpasses my requirements for studio work nevertheless, because of the weight issues I will not recommend it as a ‘practical’ buy for a performing musician.
I wrote Ibanez expressing my point-of-view and suggested other wood selections (Alder/Wenge combination), for future productions, woods that are more ‘ergonomically friendly’ for the player; in addition, I expressed consideration for an adjustable nut with the same capabilities as the adjustable bridge; they have not responded yet. I know that wood selection can be vital for some but for me playability and comfort outweigh most sound issues especially while I’m on stage for 2 hours. I can adjust an instrument’s sound issues with audio effects when necessary but these audio effects won’t lessen the weight issues; consequently the instrument probably won’t be used or endorsed in a ‘performance’ setting.
If weight is not a factor, I strongly recommend this instrument. It’s stylish, well made and has more to offer than what most bass players need plus the price is affordable, unlike most other high-end bass manufacturers.
