Pros: Sounds good. Nice deep a punchy tone that is clear and produces good harmonics, and also a nice sounding overdrive when needed.
Cons: no rear input and the tuner output is horrible.

Tonal Quality:
As far as the tone for this thing goes, it had a very deep bassy and punchy tone. The mids and highs were smooth sounded when set at about 9 O clock, but anything really about that was kind of brittle sounding to me. The overdrive tone was probably one of the best OD sounds I have heard from a bass unit. You can add as little or as much OD as you want.

The day before I ordered from GK, I called them to see if it had a rear input to daisy chain from my wireless without having to run a cable all the way to the front of my unit (which really urks me). They said it had a Chain in and out. I got it, where the hell was the CHAIN IN they were talking about? Kinda sounds like they don't know what the hell they are talking about over there. Also, the TUNER output is pretty much worthless. I had to wack my strings to get anything to show up on my Korg DTR2000. I plugged in my tuner to my Sansamp, and I barely had to pluck my strings to get my tuner to read the output.

All in all it is a good preamp, if not having a good tuner output and a rear input dosen't bother you like it does me.

Pros: Sounded great, while it worked
Cons: Quit working after a week or two.

I bought this searching for a great fretless sound running DI to the house PA. I was very pleased with the sound until I had it about two weeks, when it lost most of it's output, the tone controls quit working, and B channel is basicaly dead. Now with the DI cranked 100%, input 100%, all I get is a weak sound with almost no EQ, contour, OD, etc. I quit hearing from the store I bought it at, so I guess I will deal with GK direct.

I will say, that while it was working, I really liked it.

Pros: Great sound. Overdrive is especially nice.
Cons: Unit died on me after 8 days

I got this preamp and I was very impressed with the sound. It was working fine and then, in the middle of a gig, it died. I had to rewire my rig on the fly in order to bypass and finish the set. Very annoying!

I contacted GK and they are sending me a new one. I hope that this isn't a common problem with these because I really was digging the sound I was getting. That is useless though if you have to worry about it breaking.

I'll update my review after I receive my new one. Hopefully this one will last more than 8 days out of the box.
