The VOX amPlug, where to start? First thing is, this was made for a guitar, not a bass. But trust me when I say it doesn't matter. This thing was exactly what I was looking for, small, efficient, and dam good at what it was made to do. The sound is superb out of my earbuds, and it doesn't annoy or awake others! Yes it DOES sound like it is coming out of an amp, trust me you won't know the difference.
There are 3 versions, Classic Rock, VC30, and Metal. I tried them all and chose the Classic Rock version. The VC30 was nice and clean, but lacking character for me, and the metal was.....metal . This thing is amazing. It is tiny and attaches to your bass, so you can literally walk anywhere you want while playing: to the kitchen, the living room, the bathroom, even to the store if you wanted! On top of everything, there is an aux input so you can plug any music in to jam along with! Great for learning songs.
One more thing: Don't worry guys, even though it was made for guitars, it handles the low end NO PROBLEM!

As to the question on a bass version, yes, there's a bass version out now. Not as available as the guitar ones though. I just bought one today from Sweetwater, when it gets here, I'll post my impressions...
