Pros: the sound - the power - the preamp
Cons: not suitable for 'softer' music

After having a Hartke 3500a for a year, I was looking for a head with some more growl ...
I was a bit sceptic when I won this head on the 'bay, but after trying it out at the seller I was totally won over

The preamp, a quadrumatrix, has a tube gain and 4 presets for easily dialling in the wished for sound: from deep and warm to harsh and bright.
The eq consists of a classic 4-fold controls with boost and (for the mids) mid shift.
Add a mute switch for the tuner and some blue led's and the thing looks killer in black and chrome

For playing rock and harder, this is an amp that I absolutely recommend: it is easy to use and
almost every imaginable rock bass sound can be extract out of it ... unbelievable.
For softer genres, I can't recommend it 'cause this thing is behaves like a bucking mule ... Maybe that is due to my settings of course, I play with the tube gain on 7'ish and there is this fuzzy tube overdrive that really wants to gnarl through the mix. But hey, I play in a hardcore band
The 400 watt plugged in 2 Hartke XL 410's cuts through the drums and guitar (a half stack Marshall JCM 2000 tsl) with ease and moves some serious volume of air.

This amp was meant to be a contestant for the Ampeg SVT-3-PRO and in my eyes, this one earns a flawless victory

Too bad they are discontinued
There is also a Quad VI: it is the same as the Quad IV, only with 600 watts of power and the blue W lights up (mine is only painted on the casing ) talking about cool
