Description: The VINTAGE TUBE MONSTER VT999 effects pedal has that full-tone roar of a tube engine under its hood, letting you take off with anything from warm blues overdrive to heavy distortion.

This high-quality stomp box has the warm sound of a hand-selected 12AX7 vacuum tube. In addition, the VT999 offers an integrated and switchable noise gate with adjustable threshold that keeps your sound noise-free. A status LED is included, plus there is a true hard-wire bypass for ultimate signal integrity.

Pros: A nice tonal palette to work with, 3-band EQ, noise gate, METAL housing, hardwire bypass
Cons: comes with a junk tube, some bass suck

I bought this on a whim, since it was cheap. I've had a few behringer things in the past; basically, i've found that while i dislike their amplification systems i like their pedals.

Out of the box, it sounded pretty good. It does have some bass suck, but I EQ'd that out later on in my chain.
Once I put in the better tube (Tung sol 12ax7)...wow. So much better. Cleaner, crisper tone, with better sounding overdrive. I run it with Vol=8, Gain=.5, B=8, M=6, T=5, and it adds a little vintage-y thump to my sound. Gain @ 3 and it sounds like creamy smooth tube distortion. Cranking the gain above 7 makes it sound like a decent fuzz pedal, IMO.
I later put in a bigger input capacitor, which eliminated the bass suck issue.
Metal housing and a true hardwire bypass are both excellent traits as well.
For about $70 for the pedal [came with an adapter too!], a new tube and shipping, its a pretty sweet deal. Yeah, it's a nice project pedal, but stock...not so great.
