Pros: Quality feel, great neck, quiet electronics
Cons: Dark abolone fret markers against rosewood is hard to see

I've had this bass about 2 weeks now and I'm really getting to love it. This is one of the made in Japan models. I restrung it with DR Lo riders and the tone is very good and versatile. It has a great feeling neck, made out of 3 pieces of maple. The fretwork is well done. I forgot to mention above its a bolt-on neck, but it has 6 bolts and its not going anywhere. The bridge is supposed to be solid brass, and it is beefy.

I can't find much fault with this bass, but I'll mention two minor things. The neck pocket rout could have been a bit more snug, but like I mentioned, the neck has 6 bolts, so its going to hold well. The other thing is the abalone position dots. Abalone is a nice touch, but in less than bright lighting, the dots are too dark to show up well against the rosewood board. A more contrasting lighter-colored pearl would have been better, IMO.

Overall an excellent bass though.

Pros: Intonation is great, sound is fantastic
Cons: very "electronic" feeling

I have this bass and love it very much. The design is a total rip off of a fedora model, but that certainly puts the bass in good company. The sound is fantastic with an amazing range of tone. The string spacing felt a bit wide coming from a jazz but the action is so nice it didn't take much time to get used to. I've heard basses with thin necks referred to as "fast" but this bass somehow manages to be fast and friendly.

I will say though it is a very active bass. My room mate (I'm in college) has an American P-bass and man that thing feels a whole lot more organic. That said the P only has so much tonal versatility and the slap tone on the P can't compare to the slap tone on this baby.

Oh yea the intonation (once set up) is just about perfect. Chords about the 12th fret sound crisp and clear. While this isn't really a necessity for a Bass, it certainly is a wonderful luxury. Lastly the low B string is so powerfull and clear.

What a bass... what a bass.

Pros: Great value on a pro quality instrument
Cons: they're discontinued

I've owned her for about 10 years. It was my first 5 string and probably last. I can't find anything about it that makes me want to get another bass. If they still made them I'd get another.

The tone is fantastic with both pickups on and EQ all in the middle. Plugged straight into the board for recording, a guy asked me what kind of effects I was using because it sounded so great.

I'm still experimenting with types of strings, but will go back to the D'Addario SL's on the next change.

This bass has played many, many worship services at church and has never, ever, let me down.
