This is a very good product for bassists on a budget that want a solid Distortion.
I have had this box for about a year, and it's taken me this long to finally dial in a tone I like (Thus the 7 instead of a 10). It's only a two-way Equalizer, so it's nothing fancy. I used to use a Boss GEB-7 in front of it to even out the sound, back when I used a Precision Bass from Squier. It is not very noisy. It tends to, when you switch the Attack switch to two, but it's nothing a Boss NS-2 can't take care of.
As far as features go, I think this thing is a lot better off than a Boss Bass Overdrive. It's half the price, plus a clean setting. If you don't want distortion, just a little bit of crunch, dial in a light O.D. setting or a heavy Clean with Attack on 1. I like to put this thing after a modded Behringer HellBabe wah pedal, to split the channel dirty and clean, with a chorus coming through Clean. I dial in a fairly fat Overdrive. It delivers a very nice Tim Commerford/Vintage Marshall Guv'nor pedal feel. If you decide to take it up to full Distortion with an Attack switch set to 2, you can get some nice Fuzzy tones. Muse fans, buy this box.
It's rather heavy, even for a metal-built stomp box. It feels very well built, almost as if it's made from a steel housing. I doubt it is, but it's very dense feeling. I would gig without a backup, even though it wouldn't be too hard to buy a back up for this box. It drains through 9 volt batteries pretty quick, so you might want to get a power source. I use an SKB-2 power conditioning board, so I have no problems. It's very reliable, like I said, I've had this thing a year and it still hasn't crapped out on me.
For anyone that loves ToneLok(TM) knobs, you're in luck. This pedal's got 'em. It is very handy, considering sometimes the velcro that sticks it to my board likes to rip off. It keeps my settings dialed in, so I don't have to dig up my preset settings in my books.
All in all, this is a very nice fuzzbox for a budget bassist that likes to emulate Muse, Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, or Post-Eliminator ZZ Top. Before you spend your grocery money on a Boss Bass O.D., consider this first and see what you think.

versatile, built like a tank, overdrive and distortion unit in one

Cons:

sound could be a little bit dirtier, battery sucker, heavy

This item is worth every penny you will pay for it, and you can find a very good deal on ebay. I bought mine new, I was thinking of buying the boss odb-3 but the boss unit tends to be much noisier.
The other plus thing is the clean mode that can be loaded with a little fuzz with some tweaking. with a choice of either an overdrive mode or a distotion mode. The attack can add nice flavor to your sound but my settings would be just at mode 1, mode 2 tends to be noisy.
all in all a good pedal for its price.

This is one great pedal. Build is excellent. The knobs can be recessed which is great. The clean setting is amazing, great for adding some growl to passive basses. Od is kinda vintage sounding and the distortion is really in your face. The comp switchs add harmonics but dont really compress the sound. Left on clean with the comp on 1 its easy to get a flea type tone. Worth checking out.

respectfully I beg to differ with the other reviewers on this one.
good aspects of it are it has quite a wide range of sounds it can make. goes from clean to....GOOD GOD WHY ARE YOU USING THAT MUCH DISTORTION and everywhere in between. locking knobs are nifty.
ok, time for bad. the switches for the distortion level and attack are not durable and will become flimsy, I lost the ability to switch and I wasn't ever very mean to the thing. the way you put the battery in is a good design with just a button, but multiple times I've had my foot slide down to it after stomping and it would fly open. Input is very delicate. I hate inputs made that way. I play in a hard band and we've got other members walking around who from time to time just so happen to step on cables, including myself. If you're using a cheaper cable this thing is a no go. I could tap on the input when plugged into my rig, and the thing would make a heartbeat type sound. too easy to pull out and insecure.
if it were for use to just play at home, I'd say this is a fine choice.
needless to say, I traded it in for a boss odb 3. more expensive, but i can kick the thing around and don't have to worry.

Cons:

Noisy, Fragile switch

The pedal is good for somebody on a budget. It has its own sounds, compared to the boss odb3 (which is a complete mess for me).
You have three + three options: Clean, OD, Dist + Attack off, Attack 1 and Attack 2. Clean is allright, can be used as a boost when you want to bring the bass in or nail a solo passage, OD is even better, can go from low gain to in your face fuzzy sound. Can control it with EQ, no loss of low end at all. Attack things i didnt really get, every time i tried to engage it, i was loosing the original sound. Distortion channel was a big dissapointment, noisy, hissy and was unbareble with that attack switch on. But might work for some anyway.
Alltogether the pedal feels cheap (well, that what it is) and sounds cheap too. I had an issue with another tone-lock series, that the switch failed after a year, and i am not stomping pedals like an elephant.
I am not saying that it is bad pedal, it is a very very decent for that price. But i am mostly comparing it to the Digitech Bassdriver (very underrated pedal imo), and i like Digitech better. For a bassist on a budget it can be a good solution.

Cheap, preserves low-end, sounds great

|
Cons:

Somewhat noisy, rumor says it's not very sturdy

This is the best overdrive you can find for under $100. It sounds surprisingly good.
I don't care about it's negative aspects because for this price you get such a great tone you won't be getting from much more expensive pedals.
If you need an overdrive/distortion and don't want to waste a fortune, get this.
