I have owned the X.oc5FL and gigged it regularly for the last year. Playing a wide variety of jazz, funk, disco, reggae, hip hop, and R&B, I can honestly say that the tone abilities of this bass are applicable to any musical situation. It is a great tool for the bassist who needs an instrument that can change tones befitting a wide variety of styles with a simple turn of a knob. Jaco to DUB to upright at anytime, literally. Since using this bass pro sound engineers continually compliment the bass for it's tone depth and varience.
*The fretless model is a little stiff for slapping though. Not impossible; nor effortless.
My customer service experience was outstanding as well. I did not receive a warranty card or a wiring diagram with purchase. One call got me everything I needed mailed to my door.
Bottome Line: even if you pay full price you will not be disappointed with the Human Base product!
