Tubes, tubes, and more tubes! The new Ampeg SVT-VR is a vintage reissue of an early 1970s “Blue-Line” SVT head. The preamp stage, power section, and even rocker switches emulate the exact signal path, tone, and vibe of the original rock ’n’ roll workhorse. Authentic from its input jack all the way to its six 6550 output tubes, the SVT-VR is a must-have for rockers seeking that in-your-face Ampeg bass tone.

Heavy. You need a road crew for this one.

I had been looking for an original in good shape for a long time but every time there was a decent one on crags list or ebay i didnt have the loot or was outbid. i needed a new head asap so i saw one of these reissues on ebay for $1999 or best offer so i decided to take a shot at it. i offered $1400 and shortly later found out i won it. another $100 for shipping and i owned this brand new head for $1500.
its hands down the best new bass head i have ever played. if i could get my hand on an early 70s model i would take that but this sounds just as good and it has a warranty.
Channel 1 has volume bass mid and treb. thats all it needs. No crazy eq or anything to mess with. This amp is just pure rock and roll.
I tour like crazy with this head and the only problem i have ever had was it switching to standby when plugged into an overloaded power strip. once i plugged it into a dedicated socket it was fine.
