Pros: Sound, ease of use
Cons: lack of swept EQ band

This review is of the Frudua B:SIDE 600 head. This is available as both a stand alone head, and the power section of their combo amp.

First off, build quality and looks:
This thing is VERY well made. All the pots are solid, the switches are DEAD quiet. No pops, clicks, or anything else when engaged.

The three band EQ is set up as follows:
Bass freq is set at 80Hz, +/- 15dB
Mid freq is 700Hz, +/- 15dB
Treble freq is 3.5K, +/- 15dB

In addition to the three band EQ, there is a wideband "groove" control. This pot adds from 300Hz to 3KHz. The specs say +4dB, but it feels like more than that.
Then we have the "B string" switch, which is a fixed boost at 30Hz, +12dB
Finally, the Slap switch adds 12dB.

Don't let the power ratings of this head fool you, it is quite powerfull. I compared this head to an older AMP KD400 (think "recursor to thunderfunk"), a Carvin B800, and a Yorkville XS800H. Cabs were a Mesa Boogie 1516b, a Carvin BRX212 combo/cab, and a Yorkville XC410.

This head has a nice character to it. It's got a very nice tone when set flat, as well as tons of versatility. You can get VERY clean super HIFI slap tones out of it (think Marcus Miller), all the way to REDICULOUS amounts of bottom, appropriate for any reggae player I'd care to battle wits with. Unlike many other amps, even when adding lots of bottom, the notes remain defined. At first glance, my thought was "why no swept mid", but after using it for a while, the GROOVE control lives right where I would park a swept mid control anyway, and the amp is always VERY clean and clear, while also very warm. You can get an overdriven tone from it, if you want to. When doing that, it sounds pretty good. Certainly much more usable grit than the Yorkville head, which I have always found over the top. Overall, this head has plenty of power. It more than kept up with the Yorkville, which is rated at 800 into 4, and well known as a LOUD amp. Character wise, I would put the flat tone of the Frudua warmer, with more natural low end than the Yorkville. I have always felt the yorkville's flat tone to be a bit thin.

This is the initial review. I do not yet have pricing. It will be more than some of the "bargain" brands, while not as much as the "boutique" brands. I would be proud to play this amp on any gig I could imagine. What's it weigh? Specs say 35lbs.
