Pros: Very smooth and easy to play
Cons: none that I can tell after a year plus of use

Recently Fender made a slight change to the gauge of these strings. I am reviewing the older style, but I am guessing that the newer ones do not sound that different.

I love these strings. I use them on both my basses, a '72 Fender P-bass with Lindy Fralin pups, and a 1994 Jazz bass, MIA '62 RI/AV. Both sound great with these strings.

The strings are easy to play and have a lot of zing. I don't slap or pop much, but I can if I want. These are not dead sounding flats, they really cut through while keeping that flat style tone. "Beefy" is the word I would use. The tone is much less piano-like than the previous rounds I used. And I did not hate the rounds sound. I just like the flats better.

Here is an add on to my previous review. A decent live recording of the flats, on my MIA Jazz '62 AV bass.

Pros: These strings almost sound like roundwounds, not having the discomfort of them.
Cons: A little less sustain wouldn't hurt.

I'm only playing the bass since may 2010, so I'm still learning the tricks of the trade. I started out with nickel roundwounds on my Ibanez GSR200EX. I suppose this is the best way of learning how to mute those ringing strings. After having read some stuff on the internet, I decided to try d'Addario flatwounds. These chromes play comfortably, but have one drawback: they are a little too mellow to fit my needs. Just a week ago I received my 9050 ML's from Germany. I restrung my bass and made some truss rod re-adjustment, as these strings are pulling a little harder than the d'Addarios. They feel like the chromes and sound like nickels. To my opinion, there is no reason to keep scratching and squeeking on roundwounds anymore!

Pros: Good Strings at a great price
Cons: Not very flexible

Good strings for the price. They could be a bit more lively, but they sound and feel great. They are MUCH better and better made than the La Bella's I was using before and and less than half the price.

Pros: Smooth and easy to play and good harmonics!!!!!!!!!
Cons: Too stiff and not terribly bright.

I've had these strings on my Ibanez SR400 FL for almost two years. They're getting a bit old and consequently sound a bit duller than they did when I bought them. But I have been very impressed with how well they held up with harmonics. Even after two years, each harmonic sounds as loud and in tune as when they were first bought (the thirds grew flatter, but that happens on all strings). For the price, I would highly recommend these strings!!!!
