Pros: cheap ,great tone for rock ,solid , dependable
Cons: not a very good tone for solo music , noisy , cheap bridge

ok-
first this bass really shines when its put in with the mix , it has a great tone that fits in with any type of rock music ( except maybe really heavey stuff) .In jazz or funk I wouldn\'t know since I don\'t play that type of music.

REally great tone when used with a pick , fingerstyle it can get muddy ( unless you have a pretty fancy rig ) . I preffer the tone of the P-bass finger style rather than in a J-bass .

Change the bridge!!! the E saddle countinously falls and I lose my tuning. Or you can just put krazy glue and that\'ll solve it .

I know there are a lot of great basses outhere but if you\'re looking for a decent rock bass and you mostly play as a rithym player get it .

Pros: Good price, nice feel, popularity
Cons: low quality, buzzing, bad nut

This bass was good at start but it all went downhill. The nut stopped holding my A string and it buzzed every time i played it open. The pickups would overload every time i slapped the strings and then the preamp clip would be challenged. Just not recommended, get the american bass.

Pros: Price, you can get them on e-bay for cheap
Cons: quality of electronics

I bought this as a backup bass. For the price i can\'t complain but the pu\'s are noisy, and is seems to sufer from severe neckdive (irritating). Other than that for a backup it\'s woth the price (used).

Pros: Good price, nice look, decent playability and sound
Cons: Average construction, poor quality control, much inconsistency

The Standard Jazz is Fender\'s lowest priced bass (besides the Squier line). It is essentially the same Jazz bass that was designed by Leo Fender in 1960, but cheaper, with less features and less quality.

The body looks pretty good, and the neck is decent, but it doesn\'t feel as whole and rich as the American Jazz. Construction is not perfect, and many imperfections are abound. Fender quality control is not as strict on this line. Pickups sound good and controls are the same as its American counterpart\'s.

Generally, not a bad bass. However, unless price is an issue, go American. Fender has made a bass that is much more accessible and cheaper, but quality is inconsistant. Play as many as possible before choosing one. Many are bad, but some feel and sound very good.

Pros: Its great for ..... collecting dust?
Cons: lordy lordy dont get me started

Well , im sure it fits well with a lot of folks, but to me ..... im in a three peice band, hard rock , so you know i have to be able to hold my ground with a psycho guitarist and the damn cookie monster as my drummer, and this bass just couldnt do it, it was WAY to weak for me . Even on jazzy stuff i found it to slack and sound like a dead rat. A much better alternative is a Gibson/Epiphone non-reverse thunderbird. you\'ll have to order it over seas, but still its worth it.

Pros: cheap, nice looks
Cons: sound is brittle:noisy PU\'s

I bought this one out of need, because my old bass had died and couldn\'t afford a warwick.

The neck is incredibly comfortable: having suffered tendinitis in the past, I found it a breeze compared to other models out there (except for some ibanez\'s, but those are just too small)

Pickups really are an issue: they are noisy as hell, and you just can\'t try and record near a computer or it starts getting interference. I would recommend changing them ASAP.

I\'ve played it through my EBS Drome for 2 years now, and I have to say it sounds great for funk- fusion, but too weak for hard rock (that is, unless you go for a really clanky sound with not much pitch definition)

I\'ve had no problems with the skinny neck warping or anything (shich many seem to have had)

I know all this sounds quite bad, but it\'s quite a nice one, and much more comfortable than most out there. Try all of them, anyway, \'cos QC is terrible with these ones, and they\'re all different,

Pros: wide variety of tones, durable, easy to play
Cons: bridge

This is a great all around bass and a good value. It always stays in tune. The slim neck makes it easy to play for people with smaller hands. The 2 pick-up combination can create a wide variety of warm tones.

Pros: Great neck, tight fret board, string action is wicket and tonality ...terrific.
Cons: Fenders tunning pegs are always a problem for me, however my primary negative aspect of this bass is it needs just a little more pop from it\'s pick-ups.

This bass the such a great all-round instrument. I play funk, jazz, rock and whatever else I have the opportunity to jam with. This bass is able to get the job done in style everytime. I find the action is very tight and punchy for when I slap, the neck is very easy to get around and the price so excellent. For those bass players who want to take it to the next level with their play it\'s nice and affordable.

Pros: Price
Cons: bridge

My second bass, looks classy and sounds wicked. Bridge didnt give enough sustain or innotation so i replaced it with badass bridge. Would of sounded awesome if i brought some SD but standard pickups are just fine.

Pros: jazzy-slim neck-classic look-ok price-great sound
Cons: nothing extremely special, just a normal bass guitar with some good hooks

My second bass. probably since I spent a lot of time saving the money for it I love it more than I should. It\'s color is cashmere blue, a rare and discontinued color of the bass so i feel special when I play it. For rock it is very signature and happy, and that can be a downside for you metal players. Playing jazz on this is phenominal though, it has a beatiful jazzy sound, and the neck lets you do things you didnt really think you should do. I think it is a great second or first bass to get, but if you want something flashy, go for the american.

Pros: Very good slap tone
Cons: Bridge sucks, string heights don\\\'t stay.

Arctic White, rosewood/maple neck, 2003 i think.

For the money, best slap tone i\'ve heard, i don\'t know if it is as good as an ibanez of similar pricing, but I personally like having fender printed on the headstock. For a bolt on, has good sustain, and nice warm tones. Has good fingerstyle sounds imho, and is easy to play, tune, and generally works fine. The arctic white finish on mine, is pretty burly, and i\'ve yet to wound this instrument yet. I think the onboard controls and electronics are simplistic to say the least, and i run both pickups full bore and treble pot 60 %, and then eq to taste on my Mesa M2000 basis. The bridge is the weak link, my saddles have lowered several times since i\'ve bought it, with the action of the strings changing, which pisses me off to no end, i\'m going to buy a replacement. If i weren\'t playing this through such a versatile amp, i would kind of be disappointed in the variation of sounds, but it\'s a low end passive setup, so what is to be expected. My ideal upgrades, in this order will be, new bridge, bartolini\'s, j retro active/passive eq. I wouldn\'t need the eq, but sometimes i play on other peoples gear, and would like to be able to get \"my\" sound anywhere. Good buy, and would be a great first bass.

Pros: Durable, versatile
Cons: Not a fan of the bridge

Bought this bass over the summer as a replacement to my Squier. I couldn\'t be happier. I play in a few bands (songs are mostly rock) and I can cover any sound I need. I also play in my school band, which plays mostly jazz and band music - again, no problem. I have to bring the bass into school for band practice, as well as various jams/practices with friends and I am yet to put a ding or scratch on it. That\'s not to say that it hasn\'t bumped into things, as it certainly has taken its hits, but no marks. When I bought the bass (used) the saddle for the low E string was busted and couldn\'t be adjusted. So I waited awhile, and then put on a Badass II, which I recommend, however I am reviewing based on the standard features. Neck feels great on this bass, I have no trouble playing it. This bass is great for any style of music, and is easily slapped. It also sounds excellent backing up unplugged acoustic guitars. I honestly feel that this bass can do anything. No problems with neck, tuners, body, pickups, or electronics. The only problem was the bridge, which would have been fine had it not been broken. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this bass to anyone. I would rate this a 9, but the site is making me rate it a 7. If I had the option though, a 9 for sure.
