The DOD 250 Reissue is an outstanding overdrive pedal for bass, even better for the meager price of $39.99. The reissue tends to be more transparent than the original, but a bit more timid. The build quality is amazing, and the wiring is super neat. No wonder they\'re loved by so many.

OD tone is great!

Battery changing could prove problematic since the casing is screwed in without a battery compartment.

This is a great pedal for the price! You have 2 knobs a volume knob and a gain knob to control the overdrive from a little timid overdrive to a nice bottom-end begone fuzz tone.
My only complaint is the access to the battery compartment. You have to unscrew the entire pedal to get to the battery making quick battery changes on stage next to impossible.

Not edible

I think many bassists overlook this pedal because it is not a \"bass\" distortion pedal and $40 for one of the best distortion pedals on the market seems to good to be true.
To the first concern listed above: though it is not labeled as a bass pedal, it, in my opinion, works better for bass than it does for guitar. (I have tried playing a guitar through it, and the tone is simply too transparent. Put a bass through it and it is pure magic.)
To the second: It\'s not.

No LED for slow thinkers, Low End Tone Suck...
|
|
I think this is a good guitar pedal (and my guitarist now uses it), but I found that with a 5 string bass there was just to much low end tone suck. It made me feel slightly naked (which is a bad thing).

Great little overdrive pedal for when you need that tubey crunch tone. About as easy to operate as a bottle opener. Built like a little brick. On looks alone you should have one on the floor -- looks more rock and roll than any other pedal, save a Vox wah. I'm glad I listened to my elders on this one.
