Pros: Mute switch is a +++++++++
Cons: none

This pedal, DI, preamp, rocks!!!! I use it with passive basses, although I have used it with my active bass without engaging the preamp circuit, it is an awesome passive DI. One of the buttons went out on me and I mailed it back to Sadowsky and they fixed it, they had it back to me within a few weeks. They are great people. I\'ve also used this preamp with a power amp, and that also worked great. It is a very flexible little unit.

Pros:
Cons:

i think this pedal rocks! i use it as a DI my GK's line out is way to hot and i don't have a volume control. I also use it too tweak my tone...i only rated it a 9 just because i haven't tried others to compare too. I am seriously considering giving the sansamp tech 21 a test drive. But I really am completely satisfied with this product, i would suggest to anyone to pick one up. I use it with both passive and active basses. BUY ONE!

^ I wish i could just straight away lend my support to these reviews but the truth is I just can't get my Sadowsky preamp to do anything positive for my tone!
I guess when you find your sound being better with the pre switched OFF its a little disconcerting :/

I still need to fiddle with it some more to see what I can get out of it (not that theres much to them - just vol/treb/bass) but right now it simply feels like an expensive DI and tuner/mute switch!

(PS: Im using a Washburn Bantam XB-800-active soapbars as my primary bass)

Pros: The positive change in 'feel' when used with a band.
Cons: Lack of a Mid control.

I've tried several similar outboard preamps, and this is my favorite. The sansamp just didn't do it for me, while the MXR was close but just not in the same class as the Sadowsky. The only thing this thing lacks though is a Mid control.

For me, the real test is at a gig. I really don't care what something sounds like until I put it to use on stage. The Sadowsky shines there. It has a sweet bottom end that sits beautifully in the mix. It can be bottom-heavy if you aren't careful, so I prefer to run the bass control a tad past noon.

I've used it with great success with an acoustic guitar, and with an electric guitar on a recording. I highly recommend trying it like this too.

Pros: simple controls, sturdy, mute switch(!), low batt led(!), sound
Cons: knobs a little fragile - carry it in a box or case

This thing has become indispensable for me. On recordings I run it into my Avalon U5 to thicken & sweeten the sound of passive electrics. Live, I use it to boost output. Fly dates, it's a great sounding DI that gives you some control of your FOH tone. The biggest surprise was how good it sounds with my Full Circle equipped upright! Haven't touched my Platinum pre since I got this. Bass & Treble controls are simple and effective, but a little goes a long way. Mute control let's me change axes fast and silently. It's a great tool!
