Pros: Great tone, lots of flexibility/features, versitile sound, footswitch
Cons: too many knobs (sounds best flat), turbo boost not adjustable

Features: 8

Tons!

Front panel:
Tune mute, Gain, Tube shape (how warm/wooly), Enhance (mid scoop, on/off), Compresor (rate/treshhold, on/off), low EQ, 3 band semi parametric EQ, high EQ, DI level (pre/post EQ, pre/post comp selectable), side chain level, AUX In level, crossover (biamp/ stereo selectable), master level, turbo boost (20 db volume boost).

Back pannel:
More ins and outs than you can find a use for including a tuner dedicated out that stays active when in mute mode, 1 full range DI and 2 left/right DIs, left and right effects loops, etc.....

Footswitch:
Mute, Compresser bypass, Enhance Bypass, Turbo boost.

The only problem is that it has so much that you might think you need it. I spent a while trying a bunch of different settings before I realized that setting it flat was PERFECT. You can pretty much ignore it all in most situations, but when the time arrives where you need it you\'ll be glad its there.

One more thing I forgot is that the turbo boost is too powerful to be practical and is not adjustable. Thats a big dissapointment.

Sound: 10
I use this with my 2 Eden d210XST cabs and the combo is absolutely perfect.

I get a very warm agressive tone by putting the gain at a point where the light barely lights up and the shape knob at about 11 o clock with the compressor set to give the sound a nice tight limiting cap that only comes into play when I really dig in.

As far as the EQ goes, I only have the trebble cut slightly as I do all other EQing on my basses.

I am able to get a completely ideal sound out of this setup. It sounds just like I would want it to sound in a recording, both with and without the band.

Reliability: 10
No complaints yet.
Ive been carting it all over the place for over a year without as much as a whimper. I opened it up to take a peek and it looks very neatly and securely put together. Im not worrying.

Customer Support: 10
I havent had to ask for ask for any help on this piece, but I did blow a speaker in one of my Eden cabs and got great service.

DISCLAIMER: It was my fault, I ran an amp rated for double the power at 8 ohms into a 4 ohm cab (means it was actually much more than double the ratting) and it was clipping pretty heavily before it ever recieved any damage. That speaker took a lot more than it was rated too.

Well anyways, they gave me a fair price (less than Ive heard local shops charge for a reconning even when shipping is factored in) to have the speaker completely rebuilt by them and they sent it back before earlier than they said it would take.

Over all Rating: 9

A couple of dissapointments in the features, but I still cant really complain. Its the perfect tone for me.

Pros: Great modern ton
Cons: seems to need a lot of power

This pre-amp is exactly what I have been looking for.

I agree with the previous poster, the best sound is flat. I bump up the bass (shelving) knob one notch and enhance at 12:00. That\'s it!

I don\'t really use the tube knob...I don\'t notice that much of a difference with on or off.

Many, many options.

the only negative is that it seems to require a large amount of power to get a large volume. I used to run the DB-659 through the QSC PLX-3402 single channel into an Aguilar GS-410. I never had anything cranked and sound volume was great. Now I bridged the PLX and have it cranked to get equivalent sound volume.

Thats why it get a 9 not a 10.

Pros: Tons of gain, Awesome EQ, Great Compressor
Cons: A little noisy -- fair amount of hiss

Gotta love the Eden sound. This preamp seems to match perfectly with my Crown K1 power amp and SWR Goliath cabs.

I've done a ton of gigs on this thing in 2006 and it's held up remarkably well. Can't wait to try it on some upcoming studio sessions.

Also a wonderful preamp for my upright bass -- although it's a bit much for most jazz gigs with the 1,000 watt Crown amp!

I'd like to pull this preamp from my rack and try it with smaller, powered cabinets for killer tone & portability.

I also love the "recording out" feature. Allows me to send a post EQ, pre compressor signal to the board -- with level adjust. Sound guys love it.

Pros: The depth of control is unlimited. My search for tone is over.
Cons: none. Really none.

I will keep this short, you know the functions it has.

This is the best lay out on a preamp I have ever seen and I have played 100+. The dials are very sensitive and the options are endless. I could not ask for more. I use ACME cabs and run a tube vocal pre though the AUX send and it sounds better than any PA I have used.
The gain and tube knob alone provide enough change to replace my ampegSVT4pro.

I play in a Stoner rock group, Bassheavy female vocalist group where my sound changes from hip hop to dub to rock to jazz to blues. Between my fingers, my tribute 2500 and the preamp I dont need my Tech21PDDI.

I wanted to write this review just to share how much this preamp has helped me enjoy playing. It is an instrument unto itself.

Pros: Complete
Cons: None so far

The rest of the posts sum it up in functionality wise. I've had mine 3 years now and it leaves nothing wanting. Use the compressor a lot, the eq is very good. One Eden product I'd never hesitate to buy again. If it was stolen I'd re-order the same. Worth every cent and for hand made it's awesome craftsmanship.

Pros: Compressor, Mute, Outputs, Tone, LED indicators
Cons: Direct out a bit noisy

The best, had it for 4 years now & have no desire to search for another amp. I have a Samsamp RBI & the Navigator unit is 100x better.

UPDATE Oct 2010:
Had this amp for 6 years now. Still fantastic & kicking. It will never go, unlike my Tech21 Sansamp RBI which just went out the door. My only beef would be the Direct Out is noisy\very hot. You can do pre\post EQ & Gnd lift to adjust though
This thing is still going strong!

Pros: Love the DI options - onboard compression is nice. EQ is very responsive.
Cons: sometimes too many knobs

What a fantastic head - paired with my WT-1000, I'm getting all the tone I want with plenty of power to back it. If this were lost I would definitely consider staying in the family. You won't find a better preamp...period.
