Description: Piezo PU from a German manufacturer and bass technician in form of a small metal cylinder which is set into a hole in the bridge. (Any bass technician should be able to drill that hole.)
Sound depends on how the cylinder is twisted towards strings and body. Costs about US$ 150-180 (when you buy it in Germany).

A special, small preamp should be available - but it also works without preamp.
I found the PU on:

Pros: Full and variable sound, easy to handle.
Cons: Price for additional preamp.

I\'ve been using \"Bassbalsereit\" for three or four years for upright bass playing jazz. (Some pros in Germany seem to do also, e.g. John Goldsby.) The PU fits with ordinary amps, e.g. GK 200MB and AI Coda II. With the latter I was recently asked how I\'d produce my \"acoustic\" sound. Fine!

Twisting the cylinder gives you a lot of sound possibilities - of course some of them less useful (up to typical piezo sounds). But many useful ones. It may last half an hour to explore all facettes. (Entertaining.)

The special preamp is a bit expensive, I think - today about US$ 500. It really fits with the PU, because of its special filter pot. But you should check out some other preamps also.

Maybe an additional micro could make the sound even hipper: to feature a few crispy treble frequencies. But not necessary.
