Pros: Warm, punchy, even tone. Tons of clarity. Impervious neck.
Cons: Enhanced low-mid voicing may not be versitile enough for some.

Sound: 10

I love everything about the Zon sound! The neck is really something special and I think is what really gives these basses their unique flavor. They have lots of clarity and sustain, no dead spots whatsoever, amazing ringing harmonics, and in spite of the myths floating around about graphite being sterile, Zons are far from it. It has more warmth and growl than most wood-necked basses I\'ve played. Useful in any style.

You really have to try one to believe it! I\'ve been through lots of gear and played even more in stores and nothing comes close in my opinion. Sound is really what sets Zon apart. There are a lot of high-end basses out there which look great, use quality materials, and are constructed flawlessly. But when it comes to sound, most just sound like any good bass. The Zon has a distinct sound - which may give it a certain love/hate relationship with the individual player. I happen to LOVE it.

I play it through a Glockenklang Heart-Rock head which powers a Bergantino HT322. The Glock is pure and transparent so you hear Zon in all its glory!

Action, Fit, & Finish: 10

Flawless. Joe doesn\'t mess around. Everything was absolutely perfect. The action was the only thing I adjusted - but of course every player has individual tastes so you can\'t expect the factory to know that. I prefer it lower than most.

Reliability/Durability: 10

Very durable. The composite neck will never move... unless maybe you run over it with a 18 wheel truck. No truss rod - no need. A small amount of relief is built in and it\'s perfect. I\'ve used it for about 3 years now with no issues yet.

Customer Support: 10

Joe is a wonderful guy to work with. I\'ve never had a problem he couldn\'t take care of. Actually, I\'ve never had a problem. But I did have him change out the circuit on this bass, because it originally had the old PolyFusion preamp with just treble and bass with an internal midrange. I wanted access to the midrange and he swapped it out for the newer Bartolini circuit. I\'m not even sure what my warranty is. Haven\'t ever needed it!
