There are a number of threads on Schroeder Cabinets and almost all deservedly glowing. So I want to focus on something the 21012 offers that the other Schroeders don't.
I was fortunate to get to play all the Schroeders when I picked mine out. They all sound great and for most situations they will all work perfectly. But I was looking to replace a stack that included a rear mounted 18” speaker cabinet. To say that this stack had a deep sound is a true understatement. The cabinet I was using would be suitable for a DJ at a large club. I used this speaker to shake things while I would drone the Low B.
Most of the Schroeders simply didn't have that type of low sound (probably because most of you don't want it). Don't get me wrong, they will handle the low b and do so with volume, I just want the extra depth.
The 21012 can get this sound when the 12 is pointed down. You see, you can get three totally different sounds depending on which side of the speaker is down. Most of you would prefer the regular way where the logo is right side up. When the cabinet is on that side you can get an unbelievably clean sound that hits all frequency ranges. It also cuts though a mix and leaves the tonality alone. If you are droning, tapping or using the whole fretboard for whatever reason, then this attribute means a ton.
I am thrilled that I picked a Schroeder, but even more so that I picked the 21012.

Pros:
|
Really good, useable bass sound across the spectrum here, from thumping bottom to crytal-clear mids and highs.

Cons:
|
I domn't regard it as a negative aspect, but it's almost impossible to dial-out mids.

This puppy sure gets a 10 in my book. I've had it now for 2 years, been using it exclusively for medium - to - large scale venues, including outdoor, and it just plain gets it every time. Using a racked pre-to-power amp running about 1000 rms watts, and the sound is just plain ballsy, from no matter which angle.
I was using an SWR Megoliath to fulfill my large venue/outdoor venue obligations, and while the sound was wonderful, it was killing me and my Ford Escape. I heard about the Schroeder's ability to come out with a big sound from a smaller box, went and tried it, sold the Megoliath and bought the 21012 the next weekend, and while I still love the way the Megoliath LOOKS onstage, I'm getting that same sound and better from a package less than half the size...
I've had to replace the 12" woofer this last year, and Jorg gave me an incredible deal when he realized how old the original was (2002) and what kind of a beating this cab has gone through....
