This is a good pedal for the price, its your average octave pedal
it does just what an octave pedal is supposed to do, take your bass signal, and drop it an octave down. This pedal is somewhat unique as it has two level controls, one for the octave down, and one for the direct (uneffected) signal, so you can mix the two signals, or you can take out the direct signal and have just the octave down signal.
The pedal does have one problem, which plagues almost all octave pedals that are used with bass. Tracking. yep, this thing has decent tracking when you are playing above the C on the G string (fifth fret) but below, the pedal has a few problems, and it takes a few milliseconds to figure out what note you are playing. This, of course, is a problem with almost every bass octave pedals, with the exception of EH's POG and HOG, and i believe the Rastop Bass divider has good tracking as well. on the other hand, those pedals are very expensive. The FX35 is a pretty affordable pedal, and for the price, it's a decent pedal. you probably won't find a better pedal in that price range.
Would i recommend it? yeah. If you are looking for a cheap octave pedal to fool around with, this is a sure thing...It is also decent if you keep the direct level up and just add in the octave to beef up your bass. If you are looking for a top of the line octave divider with great tracking, look to the POG or Rastop bass divider, not this one...but it sure is decent

Definitely not a top of the line, pro-level octave, but for its price point it cannot be beat. It tracks my active Warwick down to the 3rd fret "C" on the "A" string, which is better than the digital octave in my BP-8. All in all, if you have the money to spend it shouldn't be your first choice, but if money is a factor (as it most often is) this will do the job.

not much of an octave pedal. it works down to a low A if you put a compressor in front of it and use flat wounds. other than that it does not track well.
the sub sound is very natural.
