Description:

The quality of EBS units generally out-distances that of other manufacturers by far. Get several EBS pedals and you can forget about looking further. By-the-way some of them work very well with guitar.

Nice sound out of it. Doesn't take away from your tone. Very punchy. Any bass line sounds sweet through this thing.

Cons:

Sometimes gets confused when playing double stops or when you slide, hammer, etc.

Take my review for what it's worth (not much if you were wondering). This is really the only octave pedal i've messed around with. Been happy with it though.

This is so far the best octaver I've ever tried. It tracks very well, and the sound quality is outstanding. No noise issues either.
I used to use an Ashdown octaver, this EBS unit blows it away. Compared to the Boss OC-3 I also greatly prefer the EBS.
Built like a tank, easy to use. Can't go wrong with this pedal IMO. Three band switch hi/med/lo (or deep/deeper/deepest).
Don't know what else to say. As you can tell I'm happy with this pedal.

Pros:

Three octave modes...albeit all 1 octave below. Blend knobs
|
|
Cons:
|
tracking, not so bombproof
|

Fretted noted sound good. Open notes, chords, HO, PO, slides sound like a Moog oscillator (which could be right up YOUR alley). Power supply input didn't stand up to touring and that makes the whole thing act wacky.
Frankly, I thought the Micro POG was WAY WAY better on all accounts.

Why didn't anyone ever tell me bossa nova sounded so good?

Pros:

reliability, sound quality, sturdyness
|
|
Cons:

no true bypass on mine
|
|
Used with passive P-bass and EBS 1 v2 preamp.
Very reliable and nice sounding analog octavider. (Analog units are noticably quicker than any digital one, since they do not have to sample and "decode" played notes.) Volume controls for clean and octave signal. Three filter settings on the octave output.
There is no true bypass, and the pedal will slightly degrade the sound of the bass hooked into it, also when unit is "bypassed".
A slight hiss and the additional step of amplification is noticable through a modern, full range backline. If you use an SVT + 410 or 810, you will NOT notice...
To get around that, I plug my pedal in the effects loop, and use the remote for the preamp to switch it on/off.
Tracking is IME only limited by how much fundamental your bass puts out. Many basses have very little fundamental on open strings and below G on the E-string.
If I put my Octabass on the preamp subwoofer output (LP at 70Hz) it easily tracks an open E string, and you will have a massive E one octave below your bass...
If you need an octave unit, try this one. You will probably not look back - I have not.

Wanted a pedal that could beef up my bass, and this pedal beat my expectations. i had read plenty of good reviews on ebs pedals, but to hear it in person was that much better.
Great sound, very flexible thanks to the hi-mid-low switch. great to get either a bright synthy tone, punchy, or a deep boom.
Some people hate its tracking ability. i only have problems when i first start it up, but after that, its smooth and accurate as can be.
Also, its body is built like a tank. you could probably shoot it with a gun and it would still play perfectly.
Only problems are that it can be kinda costly, though it is kinda one of the cheaper ebs pedals. usually around the $150-180 range. I happened to snag mine for $100 used
Fabulous pedal, highly recommended.

Sturdy build, tracking is usually pretty good,

Cons:

Doesn't sound very good when used with low notes but that could be due to my 2x10 speaker cabinet.

This is the only octave pedal I have ever owned, so I can't compare it to anything else. I play in a blues/rock trio and a 4-piece prog band. For both bands I use it on a couple of songs where I want to use the bass to fill out the sound on slow songs. I get best results when I play in the upper octave (nothing lower than the C on the 10th fret of the D string). Notes below that sound too muddy to my ears. It tracks very well as long as the notes are not played too fast.
The unit is built very sturdy and I am not worried about it breaking down with normal use. I have had it for one year, it stays on my pedal board right after the EBS compressor pedal. I have not had any problems with it.

A bit pricey, but the tracking is better than any other Bass octaver I've tried. It's still not Perfect, but very nearly there.
Good control over the dry and wet mix.

Great blend control. Beautiful lows.

Cons:

I have an old one so the in and out jacks are on the wrond sides. Pain in the ass.

Like anything EBS, it's great. Mine have some low-end tracking issues, but newer versions seem to have addressed that. If you're looking for a solid, clean sub-octave, you've found it.
