Pros: tight B string, great look, great sound, feels good, very powerful EQ, looks expensive!
Cons: heavy! Pickups could probably be better

This is truly an AMAZING bass! I love pretty much everything about it, except for its weight... it has a huge body and wide neck, so it\'s a beast to play for long periods of time. But I can\'t reccomend it enough! Awesome sound and look, tight B, great EQ. Get a wide padded strap for this thing! Every time I look at it I can\'t help but play it. I think it\'s the best bass for the money - $700 Canadian.

Pros: wood, neck geometry
Cons: stock pickups, soft finish

Excellent bass for the money, impressive to look at. The stock pickups and EQ offer respectable sound variability - HOWEVER - it sounds rather stale. I just loaded Barts and an Aguilar OBP-3 and now it really sings.

Pros: Sound variability, durability, wide string spacing
Cons: Heavy, a bit pricey

A big, bold looking, bassists bass. After much research, and playing everything the local shop had to offer I decided on the BTB 405. I have never been sorry. Great looks, good sound, strings never more than a microtweak out of tune, able to dial in different sounds. I love playing this bass--and couldn\'t ask anymore than that. It is heavy and large, but for a big fat guy like me that\'s not a problem!

Pros: B string growls! ... awesome color... active EQ... individual string saddles
Cons: little heavy, no active pickups

i love this thing, i used to have a Warwick thumb bass so i was used to the heaviness. i also don\'t have as much finger stress with this ibanez. warwick necks for 5 strings are like tree trunks... i am going to get some active pickups to throw in here since i paid $300 only... i bought it used at a musicainas flea market and it is the greatest.

Pros: Fat, chunky, way long neck, Great tonal palette.
Cons: None that I have seen.

Awsome bass. Best bass to come out of the Ibanez stable since the Musician. IMO it\'s not anemic at all, and if it sounds good stock, I can only imagine the sounds that it would get with a set of Bartolini pups. I was tempted to save my pennies for the 1005, but at $442 I will gladly pay for the upgrade in due course. Not for the faint hearted though; that 35\" scale rules!!!

Pros: equalizer,price,weight
Cons: neck,uncomfortable design

I \'d say that it is the best at this price.it\'s eq offers a big variety of sound(classic ibanez sound)+it\'s not so heavy(i had a washburn!) + enough spacing between the strings(good slap ability)so i really like that.although i have this instrument for a year now and i cant seem to get used to its neck.i think the fretboard should been a little more curved and the body not so huge.anyway it is the best solution for sm who doesnt want to spend much!!

Pros: Versatile (soundwise), confortable and stable neck, good looking, tight and clear on the low B.
Cons: A bit heavy, not very responsive for tapping (in my case)

I waited years before getting a first 5 string bass till I came across the BTB405.. Most fivers I had played made my hands felt like trapped due to minnimum string spacing, but the wide spacing on this bass makes it very easy to get used to five strings when switching from four.. Also makes it great for slapping. The vari-mid eq is addictive! It helps pumping up the frequencies that give a certain technique or style their characteristic tone and take out most of the sounds the bass itself can provide without messing with a graphic eq.
The 35 scale makes that low B sound imponent. There is something about the pickups, or woods, or maybe it\'s just mine, but it doesn\'t have such a responsive sound for tapping compared to many other basses I´ve played.
Still I\'m very happy with it and I\' would hardly find such a great bass for that money.

Pros: almost everything
Cons: knobs and bridge finish get kinda nasty easily

Bought it at a steal and it became my main bass OVER NIGHT!!! It\'s big and wide and so is the tone. I play in four local bands playing everything from country and rock to soul and funk. The EQ section makes tone shaping a DREAM. I NEVER tweak my amp on stage and if i\'m in a situation where the monitors can handle it I just run through a nice DI. NOT for people with a bad back but I love the beefy feel and the extra room to dig in thanks to the wide string spacing. You will NOT be sorry!!!!!

Pros: Great looks and sounds
Cons: A lot of fret buzz on the b string, heavy

I own the six string version of this, and it is a wonderful piece of kit. I have active pickups of some kind on mine, so it has great tones. It is a truly professional looking instrument and I\'m surprised that it is as cheap as it is.
However, for some reason the b string has a lot of fret buzz, which to some extent spoils it.

Overall, a fantastic bass marred by fret buzz, but the pros easily outweigh the cons, and it is highly recommended.

Pros:
Cons:

I haven\'t played it, so I can\'t honestly comment on that, but I couldn\'t help but notice, it looks remarkably similar to an MTD.

And the SR series looks remarkably like a Fodera.

Pros: vari mid pre-amp, wide string spacing
Cons: heavy

I bought this bass a week ago. It has great action: very low and no fretbuzz. The guy I bought it from, bought it new three years ago. The bass still looks like new. It has a beautiful quilted maple finish, a three piece neck, well just all the features like all the other BTB405\'s. BTW, it\'s (dark) blue.
The bass can produce a lot of sounds. I\'m used to my OLP stingray (passive), so the two pick-up configuration is a new think for me (well, I had a squier p-special, but it only sounded ok with both pickup volumes open) And off course the active pre-amp is real cool. It\'s just an equalizer, but the vari-mid knob can radically chance your sound: from boomy low\'s to \'clicky\' high. I play rock, funk (I slap a lot) and a bit of pop (whatever that may be). My OLP has a better slap sound IMO, but maybe that\'s because it has brand new strings on it and the BTB has got relatively old ones. But fingerstyle sounds better on the BTB, from warm low sounds, to funky high\'s in the bridge position.
Overall a very cool bass

Pros: Sound quality beyond belief
Cons: bad electronics, until you get new ones

I bought a BTB406 (6-string version), besides feeling like a boat oar, it plays terrific and is totally comfortable. However, the regular Ibanez electronics are CRAP!!! I had to get EMG pickups/EQ put in mine. But the quality of sound is unmatched.

Pros: price, look, weight, 35\'\' scale :D comfortability
Cons: pickups, finsh, but doesnt really matter

Yes, this bass has a good weight. I have an 406, and i had a Cort Artisan A6 ,that it was very heavier. So a 4string spector is heavier that mine. I have changed the pkups for a EMG and i have now a super bass. I am waiting until i have money to buy a BTB 1206E, because i want a warmer tone and a better string sensibility. 406 is good for its price, has a modern sound and his feeling is great. 9 points to this bass!!

Pros: EQ, playability, slap sound,
Cons: excessive fret buzz,

I have owned this bass for a year and it is a great bass, many of my friends tell me it sounds like a piano, i am currently working on getting rid of excessive fret buzz and am upgrading the electronics. great bass as long as you are able to put a little work into it.
