This is a bass assembled from parts, but the key piece is an original '61 Fender Precision neck. Obviously I'll try to provide any information I have, so please ask questions if you're interested. But here's the basics to start:

-'61 Fender neck, original finish and decal, original tuners, etc.
-Aftermarket body finished in nitro ("aged"/tinted) Sonic Blue with aged parchment guard
-Fralin pickup, all new wiring & pots

(The body is from a wholesale supplier that my guitar-building friend uses, so it's not a recognized name brand like Warmoth, etc. but is similar in quality.)

The neck shows wear but is in very good player condition. Truss rod is good, and frets have some wear but aren't bad. The dot at the 19th fret appears to have been replaced (with wood?) long ago. This neck feels exactly as good as you imagine it would from looking at the photos. No issues as a player at all - great feel, great tone.

I hate to try to describe how perfect or imperfect an instrument is to someone else - you know how that can be. With that in mind, I'm not going to vouch for the perfection of intonation or anything, because I don't know your standards. I will say this: I play alt-country/roots rock in a loud band, and I have a good ear, and I love how this bass plays.

No case, but I'll pack it well. (Case pictured in some photos is not included.) I'm sure I'm leaving things out, but will add more info as needed. Not looking for trades, although I might listen to offers of bass + cash, but only if it's mostly cash. Never hurts to ask. $2100/obo shipped to lower 48.

    More pics coming later.

Attempting to respond to several PMs - sit tight and I'll try not to miss anything.

Updated info, as requested: weight of the whole bass is about 8.6 lbs.

If necessary, I'll take it apart and show the neck date and truss rod screw - but honestly I don't want to do that unless it's a really serious buyer.

Lots of people asking about the neck by itself. I'm not completely opposed to selling it that way, but....we all know that's where the value is here. So don't expect an extreme price difference if it goes that way.

Here is a crappy iPhone pic of things that were requested via PM. (Please ignore the typical wide angle distortion, etc.) As you can see, the truss rod is not screwed in very far. Also, this pic shows the weird 19th fret dot.

Obviously most of the interest here is on the neck, as expected. If I get time this evening, I think I might disassemble the bass and put a price on the neck alone. If I do this, I'll of course show the date on the heel, etc.

If you're interested, expect the price on the neck to be a few hundred less than the asking price on the whole bass. But that's not an official for sale announcement yet.

    Okay, update:

Loaded neck is for sale: $1800 shipped.

Whole bass is for sale: $2000 shipped. (Note: In this case, I will keep the body and neck separate and ship it that way, without strings.)

(Body is not for sale separately. If neck sells, I'm keeping it.)

Prices are pretty firm. I don't need the money that badly.

More high-quality neck photos coming very soon. You'll be able to see all her beautiful, blemished, worn glory.
