  1. 1966 Ampeg Portaflex B-15N

My father gave me this amp a while back, after using it professionally for over 30 years. He had three of them that he used on a regular basis. I also used them for all of my gigs through the end of HS (1998). I am selling this as I already own one myself. It would be great in a studio.

CONDITION: This amp has not been regularly gigged since ~1999. There is a crackle sound when it is on, but nothing too serious. I've heard that this is a common problem for these old Ampegs. The guitar / bass channel works well. Channel 2 cuts in & out, however, this may be fixed with a thorough cleaning.

Any modifications to this amp (casters, handle, etc.) were to keep it functional as a primary gigging amp for 30+ years.

TUBES: The tubes light up, but I am not sure about the age or condition.

    SN: 041426 (dates to 1966 per www.unofficialampeg.com)

    PRICE: $700.00 OBO

    HARDWARE / SPEAKER CAB
    • Top handle has been replaced with a non-original but functional handle.
    • Side handles appear to be original.
    • Latches appear to be original.
    • Chrome AMPEG logo is missing from the front.
    • Original casters were removed and replaced with non-OEM casters.
    • Tolex is worn through or ripped in spots, primarily on the corners.
    • Marking on interior of cabinet, “A1 19”.
    • Extra fuse in Ziploc bag, pinned inside cabinet

    HEAD
    • Clear plastic logo on the front of the tube guard is in good shape and lights up
    • The paint is chipped on the transformers.
    * Power cord is 2 prong cord.

    SPEAKER
    • Speaker appears to be in decent condition.

    REPAIRS
At some point, repair work was done on this amplifier by Lou Mercuri Music (Burlington, NJ) in the early 1980s. There is a sticker on the back of the amp. (I mention it was the early 1980s as I remember riding along with my dad when he went there)

    COVER
    • Dust cover is well-worn on the corners, and there is a small tear in the top near the center handle. (I got it caught on the trunk latch of a 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis sometime prior to ’98)
    • Edges worn

    SHIPPING
I would prefer to sell this amp locally, however, I will ship it at the buyer’s expense. Shipping will be packaged by UPS Store employee, and insured for purchase price. A recent ebay listing for a 60s portaflex listed shipping at $200.

    PAYMENT DETAILS
Payment by PayPal or cash (if local pickup). Cash discount of $50.00 from asking price if picked up locally.

    TRADES
I am not interested in any trades at this time.
