I just got my 1969 Mustang Bass back tonight after being in the shop. It was refretted, new nut, the finish was cleaned, tinted and buffed and a new pickguard put on. The string mutes were taken off the bridge. It plays great and sounds just like an old 69 should. I'm a happy camper getting it back. It was in pretty rough shape before.

So are the old mutes serviceable? I've got a 94 mustang and wondered about trying them. Guess you didn't use them if you took em off?

I've got the metal bass for the mutes that I could put back on, but the foam is long gone. To make them serviceable I would have to install new foam which wouldn't be hard to do. Finding an intact mute and base is nearly impossible. I looked all over the place on line for one before giving up. I just need to put foam on mine and then I would be in business.
