    Whoa!

I would give very little, even for the few good parts that are left.

I would give him $300 if the 3 tuners were original, the bridge and if the pickups were from 76 as he said. I would throw away the body unless someone here wanted it and maybe keep the neck, sell off the bridge and tuners and use the pickup for my 76 P thats missing the pickup.

I want the parts just not for $900. He may sell me the pickup as I made him probably the only offer he has gotten, the bass has been for sale for months now.

    No he is not.

I stated I would like to buy the pickups for my fender thats the same year as that bass is to much of a repair job for me. If I dont want to play Prince's bass then I need to repair it.

    I assume that you're kidding.

I guess that i could technically bring almost anything back but it wouldn't be worth it. plus the headstock is pretty much completely ruined, and who knows what else.

    Yep.

I didn't wanna sound like a low baller so I didn't offer him cash-but it would be $300 for the whole bass if I did, the pickups are worth $200, bridge $100, tuners $40 each and 3 are originals the rest is worthless.. I simply said in my second reply that I would be interested in paying X amount for the pickups and if he wanted to keep it a complete bass I would wire in a set of SPB-3 Duncans and still give him ___ amount. He is dead set on selling it whole for that price.

Sure he is. He's not parting it out, he's selling it outright. It's beyond any reasonable resto effort, so it's a players bass just like he says.

You don't have to play Prince's bass, you don't have to repair it, you don't have to do anything with it if you don't feel like it.

And yet as I said we were talking about me buying just the pickups-thus he is considering parting it out.

Even with what's been done to it, it could be a quality bass. Reasonable price.
