1971 p bass pickup , help anyone

    hi

    so ive got a 1971 p bass,i tried out a model p out in the bass, but i would like to put the std pickup back in ( i didnt solder the model p in, a guitar shop did) hence my thread

    so the pickup i have in my hand now has that base plate with a black wire coming from it and the pickup has a read and a white wire

    if anyone can tell me , what goes where?

    if you have the brass plate then the black wire from your pickup coil should ground to the plate

    then a ground wire from the plate grounds to your pot

    white wire goes from your pickup coil to your volume pot
