I've decided to sell my vintage Fender Precision Bass.

This bass is a 1977 or 1978 as indicated by the serial number S864998.

It is a three color sunburst.
The wood grain makes it appear to be ash.
Red tortoise pick guard is a replacement that I preferred for its stage appearance, but I have the original black guard in excellent condition and will include both pickguards in the sale.

This bass has all parts and all are 100% original. This was my main stage bass from 2005 - 2010. It had very little use before that. It does have a few nicks, dents and dings, but nothing major or exceptional. The photos represent the condition well. Overall I would rate the bass 8 / 10 in condition.

When not at shows, the bass lived in my smoke free, climate controlled studio.

Comes with original fender hard shell, black tolex case. Case is dinged, but in excellent condition for its age and I would rate it a 7.5 out of 10 in condition.

[DEL]$2,750 [/DEL] $2,575.00 shipped, insured in CONUS. I accept PayPal.

I'm only interested in cash deals. No trades, please.

The price on this fine vintage bass is negotiable within reason. Please don't hesitate to make an offer if you have a different opinion of value. The price we settle on will include shipping insured to your door in the Continental US.

Definite win on the tort pickguard, and definitely an "8" on condition... probably higher. Very nice bass!

You might want to the post the weight as I'm sure that question will be coming from someone sooner than later.

    Good luck bump.

Weight is 10 pounds on the non-digital bathroom scale.

Neck width at the nut is 1 11/16 inches. At the 12th fret it is 2 11/16 inches.

I don't know what the neck radius is. Memory serves me that specification for Fender during those years was 10, but I'm not 100% sure.

This bass is a great player. Had minimal use before I found it in 2004. Neck is smooth, action is good. Plenty of fret life left. There is no fretting out. There are no dead spots.

This bass has that traditional P feel and sound. It was my #1 stage and show bass from 2004 - 2009. I decided to put it away to avoid wear and tear in hopes of selling it some day.

Hope this info helps. If you have more questions or want to put together a deal, drop me a PM.

    Thanks for your interest.

Dang Fred...I know you like your custom Drake, but maybe you should hold on to one of these old Fenders.

Anyhow, Fred's a stand up guy and a good player. Good luck to whoever ends up with these babies!

Not that my opinion is needed or wanted, but I have seen this bass in person and I can tell you all that it is all that Koog claims it to be. The frets are in good shape and the action was comfortable even to my small hands. When Koog says that there is no major wear he is not kidding. A few small dings but you would expect much more on a bass of this vintage.

Fred is great to do business with and he always lives up to his end of the deal.
