On offer is an 1990 Ken Smith BT Custom V G in Quilted Maple with Red
    Stain.
This model features a 5 piece neck-through-body design with Graphite
Carbon-Fiber inlaid on both sides of the truss rod.
This has the desired 2 band pre.
This beauty has been played a bunch and has all the beauty marks to
show it. It is no where near pristine, some would say it has mojo, for
days! There are a few spots which suggest it had a finish touch up,
hard to say. I can take more pix if you want something in particular.
All that said, it is functionally perfect. There are no major dings on
the neck, and the truss works perfect.
It plays and sounds fantastic, as you would expect out of a top of
the line KS. It has fantastic growl and bloom, especially in the lower
register. Setup is low and clean.
I prefer a sale but will listen to trades in the same class.
    $2600 shipped in an HSC.

Do you know the story on the carbon fiber inlay? Custom order or a limited run?

I might be wrong, but aren't the carbon fiber bars always added to Smith 5, 6, 7 string basses for support to the neck?

Early on they were not included in every bass, don't know about now. The "G" in the model number stood for graphite, I believe.

At the time of production it was limited to the custom "G" model, according to the KS brochure I have. I assume the G stands for graphite. Perhaps it is standard now.
