Very pretty! I don't think I've ever seen a maple neck without wishing it was vintage tinted, but still a lovely bass.

As an aside, being a PRS I'm going to assume one of those knobs is some sort of rotary pickup selector (or does it just have a balance or V/V?) If so, is it possible to get them aftermarket, do you know?

the knob layout is V V bass mid treble

    push/pull for active/passive each pickup.

cannot run one pickup passive and the other active.

the preamp in this thing is designed by JCF Audio. And it is simply incredible...

The preamp is not available aftermarket.

The new GG basses seem like a lot of bass for the money. The fact that PRS has a spotty track record with basses can make one a little gun shy.

From the clips I've heard of the bass, it seems to lean more towards the modern end of the tonal spectrum. Would you agree?

I've played a handful of them. They endorse my guitarist and singer and I got offered one to give up my Musicman, I just don't know if I like them more than my Stingray. Definitely beat out the Stingray in looks. The PRS's are absolutely beautiful. They sound and feel good too. Those boys know what they're doing here in MD.

in active mode the bass has a very modern hi-fi sound.

in passive mode I am dialing in a convincing passive jazz bass sound.

    Beautiful!

I keep picturing that bass with one pickup and just two or three knobs. Yum!

That's a classy bass. I haven't heard Gary Grainger in a while. I used to love watching him and Dennis Chambers growing up.
