    Hello, everyone.

    As the title says....

32" or 30" (Medium or Short) Scale Precision Basses? Do they exist?

Anyone build these? If so, who?

I'm looking to add a shorty (or Middy) to my bass stable and would love it to be a P-bass.

Rondo Music www.rondomusic.com has some inexpensive P-Bass clones in their SX Ursa series that are short scale. Squier makes a Jaguar Short Scale with a PJ configuration as well as a Mustang Bass with a split pickup a la P Bass.

I think Janek Gwizdala has a 32" scale P made by Fender. I'm under the impression it was purchased in Japan and might only be for sale in that part of the world.

I know Fender Japan made some 32" scale P Basses in the late 80's early 90's they are pretty rare but do pop up on ebay from time to time. I'd love to find one for myself.

I have a 80's MIJ P that's 32" scale. I believe it's an '84. I'd have to check the serial number again. Great sounding bass and very easy to play. Bought it off of a dude for $75 a few years ago.

Ben Lindsey could build you a nice one. I don't know your feelings on Warmoth, but they are offering 32" necks. Used medium scales do pop up occasionally here in the classifieds. I scored a medium scale precision here a few months ago from Dee-man who had two and was willing to let one go. I'd post a pic, but I don't have any yet. I'm still waiting for its re-finish to be completed...
