1. Welcome to TalkBass 2014! If you're new here, we just went through a major site upgrade. Please post all concerns and bugs to the Forum Usage Issues forum. We will be monitoring that forum. Thank you for all of your feedback.

The TalkBass iphone/android app is NOT WORKING currently. We're working on it. Tapatalk IS working, so if you need to use an app, use Tapatalk. Try using your browser though - TalkBass is now 100% responsive to your phone/tablet screen size ;)

Please read the TalkBass 2014 FAQ for lots of great info on the new software.

It's been a LOOOOOOONG time since I last owned a bass. The Beatles were a new sensation when I had my Silvertone bass & amp. So needless to say, I have a lot of catching up to do.

It's going to be a 4-string. Neck will be curly maple. Fretboard will be ebony. Those things are for sure. Still not sure if the body will be maple or bubinga. Music will range from rock to jazz.

I'm going to make a bass based on the P-bass. I'm a woodworker and I just finished my first guitar, so I can handle that part. What I am clueless about is pickups, strings, fretwire size and tuners.

    Could you help?

There are different sub forums here for each of those items, including a Luthier forum.
