I snagged a Gibson Q90 (w/ active emg PJ pickups) off of ebay a while back. It plays really well, and it beautiful, only issue is that when I play the low E with the neck pickups on I get an odd buzzing/fizzing sound. This can be heard up to about the 6th or 7th fret, and is also present a bit on the A sting up to the 2nd fret.

It's pretty obviously not fret buzz, and it can't be the battery as that was the first thing I tried.

Any thoughts as to what might be causing this issue and what I can do about it?

I would lower the P pickup under the E string
