Hello I'm totally new to analog pedals but I want to try them on a basic configuration (octaver, chorus, overdrive, ...) I've been playing several years in a variety of styles (rock, jazz, latin, ...) but always direct bass to amp. Which pedals (brandnames) would you recommend to start a pedalboard? Thank you

Mxr is a nice balance between affordability and quality. You can find them for good prices used and are usually pretty easy to sell if you aren't a fan. My personal favourites for what you listed would be..

Octaver: Boss OC-2, Copilot Cubic, EHX Micro POG
Chorus: MXR Bass Chorus, Boss Chorus Ensemble
Overdrive: Fuzzrocious Rat Tail, MXR Bass Overdrive, Fulltone OCD

Another good option would be a Zoom MS60B. It has all these effects in one box with pretty decent sound quality. For a hundred bucks or so you can try out a bunch of effects and see what you like!
