Maybe this is karma for me getting my old Warwick stolen but I got steal of the century. I remember asking what would be the best sub $350 bass (and thank you to everyone who replied!) and whilst I was window shopping (as an old guitarist, I love any of the MIJ Ibanez range), I came across this fine thing. The description was pretty poor at best but after cross referencing a lot of the catalogues, I'm pretty convinced it's an early 90s, possibly late 80s (the red writing on the pickups?) Ibanez SR800.

I asked my girlfriend who was wanting to buy me a bass for ages to drop a joke bid on this Ibanez SR800 and ended up getting it for just over $200. At the risk of sounding like a muppet, when someone puts their advert in Comic Sans, you know you're in for a bargain.

    Presenting...

It's an '87, the first year they were made.

I had that in my watch list......I was really tempted to bid on it, but I don't need another bass.

    Congrats. Good score.

I thought you might ask. The pickups say "LO-Z in red ink, and Ibanez" in silver ink. 1988 and later SR800's were all red ink. Also, the serial number is a silver label stuck on after the bass was finished; 1988 and later SR800's have a clear decal (with white letters) under the clear coat.

Congratz! That's a great score, especially for the money. The reverse P/J makes it even sweeter.
