I having been considering putting together a bass banjo. Have the 14" snare, can go get the extra bass neck. I even have a banjo bridge someplace. Just haven`t had the drive to get it done.

  8. whoa, that is a fancy electric one!
I made a simple acoustic one with just the box, a 1"x2", some old tuning pegs, and a wooden dowel for the bridge. sounds decent, stays in tune. I use DAD tuning with 3 guitar strings. sounds great with a glass slide.

  9. Very cool, post up some pictures...

True. Which is exactly why I am waiting ;) The only shop I have access to here is not heated. I think the high for today here only had one digit

  11. Well she is finely done and ready to string up,
So I finished wiring it, re-did the neck contoured and blended it back in. Now she has a coat of true oil on the re-done section.
I cleaned those nasty frets and dressed the ends, leveled them and thru another coat of oil on the fret board which will get hit with a soft scuffy pad to de-gloss it and then is string time and tuning,,,, then yes I get to play with it!

This looks like a fun project. I've been thinking about cigar box guitars and so forth. How does the time commitment of the build compare to a "regular instrument"?

  13. With running around for some spare parts and all I think I have about 30 hours in it.
Building another one today, well starting it.

  14. Now for the Glamor Shots...

  15. That is one impressive looking guitar.

I would rock it given half a chance!

Love the one knob, less to screw up/with when playing live.

Nice work! I've been building 3 string CBG's for a while now (GBD tuning). I really like the cover for the joint between box and neck.

  17. If you were on this side of the pond I would let you sir.

Thanks, first one. Learned a few things, I will be taking on a three string soon.
Post up some pictures if you think of it... :bassist:

  18. Since this is a Bass forum I will keep this build in the same thread as to not clutter things up for those whom may nit care to see non-bass related items.

Here is the one I started today.
I started with a solid piece of Mahogany 4" x 1 3/4" X 36" and of course the box.
