Hello, Robbie from Canada here. I just picked up an early birthday present for myself, a 1988 Larrivee RB-2 5 string electric bass for the sweet price of $300.

Active EMG pups, German Schaller tuners, Maple neck through core with alder wings, heavy, solid. well built instrument and was wondering if there are any other Larrivee owners here.

Great site btw, see ya on the boards.

    Regards

Never played their basses, but they make amazing acoustic guitars.

I've got what I believe is called an L6...6 string bass, bought it in 1989 at the Bass Center in LA. Neck-through,Canadian Maple, EMG pups, double P configuration. Sounds and plays fantastic, excellent craftsmanship.

I have never had the opportunity to try a Larrivée bass but I did own a LV-19 for a few years (a friend of mine has it now). If Jean's basses are as nice as his guitars i wouldn't mind having one. :bassist:

Awesome guys, nice to know there are people out there who know and appreciate the quality and craftsmanship of Larrivee basses.

I bought my RB-2 for $300 off a guy on Kijiji, he wanted $400 originally. The bass sat unplayed and unloved for 20 years and needed a little TLC. So, I took it in, spent $80 to get her overhauled and now she sounds and plays like a dream.
