I was watching Bob's Burgers on the weekend (best current animated show on tv) and in the episode Bob goes to a GTG for an internet forum for burgers. Without spoiling too much, it turns out the online community does not care for Bob and an awkward night ensues.

I have never got to attend GTG and probably won't due to my location, but it got me wondering if there has ever been any incidents at TB GTGs. Anyone?

I never had any bad incidents at any that I've been to. They've all been quite enjoyable and fun. I'm hosting my first one this year next weekend, and really looking forward to it.

+1. I've been to a bunch--in the Chicago area, as well as two of the international ones in NYC. Lots of cool, nice people, great gear, zero attitudes.

Oh, yeah. There was one in Vancouver WA a few years ago that turned really ugly with the hardcore regular Sunday afternoon patrons of the bar. The manager who booked the GTG was nowhere to be found and it went to pretty much full-blown lynch mob mode. My van had a flat tire the next morning and the repair guy found a "mystery" hole consistent with icepicking.

All of the many other ones I've been to have been fabulous though.

I'll make the upcoming Seattle GTG a "Fabulous Incident" ;)

That is pretty funny, not the tire but the insane reaction to sunday drinking. I kind of figured them all the pretty rather tame for TB. I couldn't even think of a user that is hated across the board (myself maybe) to use as an example.

It's looking like a pretty good time with a fair variety of things to check out. I'm really looking forward to it.
