posted last year but updated recently with this year's information.

I am going with an open mind, and working at elevating my playing to a point where I'll be able to appreciate what I learn and participate a bit. I'm still pretty new at this.

At last check the full slate of instructors was still TBD, and there was no mention of private instructional sessions yet. I am looking forward to it although I expect I'll be in completely over my head...

I'm staying at the Crowne Plaza for the event I'm a beginner also 3 years under my belt, I enjoy theory so I hope to open my mind absorb and learn. Hope to see you there, you can't miss me I'll be the shortest one there and left handed.

Even though I'm almost close enough for this to be a 'local commute' proposition, I'll be staying at 'event central'' also. Not looking forward to the prospect of trying to drive an hour after being overwhelmed by new stuff. That and I think there may be some after-hours socialization...

Somehow I'll find a way to print my avatar picture and stick it on something so TB'ers have a hope of recognizing me. I'd post a photo but based on what I saw last year (I went up just for the Expo...) I am completely average and could vanish in that crowd. OK - that's a bit of a fib - I'm older than average for that crowd...

I'm sure we will meet up I'm coming from the Jersey Shore about 2 1/2 hour trip. My most recent photo last night at a farewell party for the bands that are going to compete in Memphis for the International Blues Challenge. ImageUploadedByTalkBass1389549451.655882.jpg

Just booked my room at the Crowne Plaza.
If you're staying there, BE SURE to tell them you're attending the event - they've reserved a bunch of rooms at a significant discount over the rack rate.

Just a heads up! Pete Skjold and I will be bringing some cool gear in addition to Pete's basses! We will have a Audiokinesis 1203 and a MAS 46 there to demo with a Glockenklang Blue Sky and a Jule Amp DeMonique Tardis.

BTW, I believe the Bass Expo portion of the show is open to the public and free. There will be many bass builders there along with cabinet guys and string guys. It is a great time! It's like namm for just the bass players.

Mr Skjold if you have a left handed bass I would love to try it! My main player now is a Sadowsky.

They want you to pre-register but last year I don't think anyone looked at my Expo pre-registration badge. Officially starts at 10 but - hey - it's musicians - you should expect a 'soft ramp-up.'

On the list of 'must bring' is staff paper.
I suppose it is also useful for drawing Tabs if you have a 5-string ;-)

Amazingly, they still sell the stuff, but there's a zillion documents and templates out there to print your own...

    Here's one I found:

I wouldn't mind reading some sort of a report once your impressions have settled.

Packing now, heading out into the morning chill (predicted variously as -1 to a whopping 1ºF) around 0900 for an expected ~10 AM arrival.

I'll have my avatar image on the back of my event badge:
