I saw the 4 string version of this bass in a pawn shop today. However the finished is all scratched up, the hardware is tarnished the pickup poles are starting to rust, missing the buttons. However the neck feels like a dream.

    1. They are asking $200 for it and said they would take $160. However I personally dont think it is worth that price in this condition.
    2. What do you think I would ind if I stripped the finish? Nice wood like teir coffee table models, or just crap wood that should stay painted.

I want to rescue it for a project, but the price seems too steep.

Here is a sample pic of a 5 string version I copied from the Aria Club just so you can have an idea for which one I am talking about[IMG]

    Steal. :p

I'd pass. That's just me. You can be patient and find one in better shape for the same or slightly more money. It ain't like it's a Cliff Burton Sig SB-1000.

Here is a pic of the tired old girl.

The price is actually $200 as is. Think she is worth it.

I am going to cross post to the Aria Pro club as well

    It's an RSB Special-II. Passive, around 1983-4.

I doubt the the wood is particularly pretty though. It could be Alder, Basswood or even butcher-block. My RSB-5 (the one in the OP) is solid, but my RSB-I is BB. Doesn't affect the tone from those overwound humbuckers though :D
