For those who are often confused about country of build.

The ABM class D 1000 is made in the UK.

The ABM 2000 is made in the UK.

The ABM EVO III series are still made in the UK from time to time but are primarily made in China.

Ashdown recently made 10 EVO III amps in the UK but I think they sold them all already.

The UK EVO III's go for $999 and the China built ones go for $799.

Some times the ABM EVO 900 is made in the UK but are mainly made in China.

Ashdown will make any model in the UK but charge accordingly of course.

    Ashdown endorser(over 14 years).

I would pay the extra $$ for the UK made without hesitation.

  4. I thought Ashdown moved their manufacturing to the U.S.? Or am I thinking of another European amp company?

It's based in Kentucky. They have 810's, 410's, 610's, and 115's in stock.

And the same applies, if USA bass players want USA made products Ashdown will build it, but the price will be the same as UK made products not Chinese.

I have the Klystron ABM 400 combo, an early amp from Ashdown? My only question is whether I will ever need to replace the tube in the pre-amp, but i have been told no.

  7. I have a UK made ABM500 RC EVOIII.... and it's great :)

I have an original lead sled ABM EVO nothing made about a century before china entered the industrial revolution.
Still works! lives in the rehearsal studio and nobody has managed to blow it up yet:eek: and for a 1x15 tranny combo it don't sound too bad at all really. the pre amp EQ an sub boost is actually quite good, designed by the same bloke that did trace Elliot's 12 band pre.:bassist:

If they're building most in China and SOME in England, is there a difference?

I mean, why build some in England when you're cranking them out in China?

Is there a difference? Kind of like Ampeg's Classic Line (Asian Made I think) and their Heritage line (USA made)?

To my ears they both sound pretty much the same. It's just the cost to make them in the UK vs what it cost to make them in China.

The thing that confuses me is that since they are producing reliable amps in china and already have production going, what's the point in making any in England. That doesn't make any business sense to me, unless there is an incentive to build a few in England.

I have an ABM 500 EVO II head that's been a good amp for me ... where was it made?

  13. That depends on what's written on the back panel (left side)

On the back it will say made in the P.R.C. (Peoples Republic of China) Or made in the UK.

Then that is where it was made.

Some people just won't buy "foreign" items (in this case, "foreign" means anything not made by white people, so the UK is totally fine by them but not China)

Because people are easily fooled into thinking country of origin matters when looking at the quality of a product, often due to reasons of racism or nationalism.

Correct. As shown by the fact that many MIJ Fenders are superior to their US counterparts, and so on.

Yes I have and it really is a nice amp. Aside from me using Ashdown amps, the brand really has some nice products.

I've been using two ABM 410 cabs with my MiBass 550 amp and it surprises those who hear it.
