I want something different on my #2 bass. Its a 35" scale 5 string. Don't want rounds as thats whats on my #1 and 4 string and I don't want old school Jamerson style flats.

It will likely be tuned to Bb so something with good tension or heavier gauges is preferable. Want really greasy midrange and fat lows but not super rolled off highs.

I've been using Chromes on on my P5, tuned to Bb, sounds great.
Tamer than rounds, but not the jamerson flat sound.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought they weren't super interesting in the mids?

I am loving Smith compression wounds. Stiff so I go with lightest guage the 125 b is not floppy. An almost round sound with a flat - ish feel.

Do most compression/pressure wounds have a stiffer feel?

IMO yes. Much stiffer feeling than their gauge would indicate.

Does that translate into a better feeling B string?

    I've only used them on a 4 string p-bass.
