Who is/was the greatest frontman bassist in Rock and Roll? In my opinion there is no contest, Phil Lynott was the best \m/ What do you guys think?

Geddy Lee for me. I'm sure many people would agree, and if they disagree, they are probably big time Les Claypool fans for sure.

    Just an opinion.

    Roger Waters (sometimes)
    Sting
    Bootsy
Esperanza Spalding (no possible way NOT to put her up front anywhere, ever)

I don't know who the best is, but my favorite is definitely Dug Pinnick from King's X.

Glen Hughes has my favorite voice of all artists mentioned so far. He gets my vote.

LOL. Yep. Big Claypool fan, never a huge fan of Rush. Not that I don't have mad respect for Geddy Lee, just never a huge fan of their music, with the exception of a few tunes.

if were talking 'frontman' as in entertaining, i would say les claypool or bootsy. if were speaking just musically, phil lynott is definitely up there. the big one for me though would be dUg pinnick.

I like him the best. Even if you don't, you'll have to admit he is one of the biggest...

If I include bassists who shared frontman responsibilities with other band members:

    Paul McCartney
    Jack Bruce
    Geddy Lee
    Sting
    Phil Lynott
Gene Simmons (I know I will take heat for this one but his playing is underrated and he puts on a great show)

John Wetton has always been in my top 2 or 3…Heckuva pedigree that guy has, with King Crimson, Asia and others. And what a voice!
