Hi, I just picked up a Peavey TNT 130 minus the amp. But it sure has the 1502 4ohm Black Widow. I wanted to get some feedback on this speaker. Any info as well.
I am making either a head cab set-up or a combo with a 63 Bassman that is all tuned up with new caps, a bias adjustment pot and new 3 prong cord. New JJ tubes as well.
I have this Black Widow as well as a JBL D140 to choose from. Any opinions on that.
Just getting back to playing bass after MANY years. I will only need this for small bars/restaurants and accompany a guiatr or two.
Looking forward to some input. Ken

I replaced the 15" speaker in my bag end 1X15 with a 4 0hm BW and it is amazing. Love mine. Can't say enough good things about it. I also have an SWR Goliath III, Ampeg BXT210M, and some Mesa cabs, and this is the one I go for every time.

The 15" Peavey BW bass drivers sound nice IMHO.

My favorite speaker for bass. Not for super high wattage use but great if you can keep your volume knob in check. Should be a good match for vintage bassman heads.
The only reason they aren't my goto cab is the number I've destroyed: 5
Which about 4 past my comfort zone...
Though that was when I was younger and didn't know volume knobs could also be turned down.

They have a whole new line of 15s from what i gather.. I have one in my xsonics 1155TF cab and it is amazingly punchy. tight and puts out alot of bass.. and handle 700 watts easily..
I like it more than my 3015 loaded cabs

I used a Peavey 115B silver stripe BW box with a matching MKIV head right thru from the mid 80s to late 90s and it always sounded great..clear punchy bass and all the volume I needed without breaking up

It did what it said on the box for me..

    BW is a tough speaker.
    The 1505 is even better.

If I was building around a ceramic speaker, it would be the 1505 BW. More robust than the 1502.

I have a 4 ohm 12" BW in my Ampeg cab. It will take anything and everything the GK 1001RB can dish out without fail.

+1 I put a 1505BW in my Xsonics 1155TF and love it. Great tone, especially when paired with that Faital 5" mid.

Are there TS parameters for these? Or are people just sticking them in boxes and hoping?

The 1505 is one of the few speakers whos mechanical limitations surpass the thermal limitations. Going to over heat a voice coil before you hear that thing fart.

i had a 3620 and the 18s were dreadful. farted out badly when pushed at all, bass response was pretty mediocre, and did not sound good when driven. all the hype with the black widows was killed for me with this cab. maybe the 15s are much better, but the 18s suuuucked.
