I bought this Modulus from a friend who was broke. He said it's a Quantum 5 wide, owner before him said it's a cocobolo top, he thinks it's bubinga, chechen top on Q5 on Bass Central looks the same to me. No one here seems to really know what I have, and Modulus is now defunct from what I can tell. See photos

  5. Looks like lightly figured bubinga to me, but there's a chance it could be chechen. 99% certain it's not cocobolo.

I'm gonna assume bubinga. I'll be posting it on classifieds as soon as I upgrade to sponsor.

  8. Agree with the bubinga crowd, made in 2002, check your string spacing to tell if its a wide 5, from the pics, it appears to be. Nice bass!

what's the width of the fingerboard at the nut and at the 24th fret?

if the nut is 1 3/4" wide and 2 3/4" wide at the 24th fret, then you have the normal quantum (17mm).

never played a quantum wide but i think the nut width is a little over 2" and the 24th fret is a shade over 3". iirc, a quantum wide 5 is basically five strings on a quantum 6 neck.

and as an addict to cocobolo, i can confirm that top is not cocobolo. it's a looker that's for sure.
