    So i'm gonna vent:

My daughter is like the millions of kids and girls that is obsessed with Disney's newest Frozen. She's been asking me for various items that she sees (my niece has an umbrella) like the umbrella, slippers and dress - funniest thing she asked was "Daddy I want Elsa's powers" hahhahaahaha. One thing i noticed places you could typically find it in like toys r us, walmart, k-mart, etc are all sold out. Low and behold places like eBay and Amazon have them ....but at a significant marked up price .

    Elsa Tiara: MSRP = $7.99, Amazon = $26.95 :scowl:
Frozen Twin comforter: MSRP = $32.99, Amazon = $85.00 :meh:

I actually managed to find the above at local stores, but it took a good amount of calling around - not to mention they were the last ones :bag:

I remember way back when the craze during christmas season, Furbies, tickle me elmo's and the like, but sheeeeshh!!!!

If anyone knows where I can get a Frozen umbrella or Elsa Slippers at a reasonable MSRP price, let me know ;)

Don't let Disney extort you! I remember back when I was a kid if my mom couldn't afford something, she just told us. Worked fine for us. I have no kids, so far be it from me to suggest how anyone should parent, just saying that your kids might give you more credit than you think they will.

I mean...the Frozen umbrella might say "congelado" and the slippers may be a shade off in color, but they will be super cheap :D

Looks like those are items that are no longer in stock through Disney. Unfortunately when that happens you end up getting stuck buying from a 3rd party and paying through the nose. When I find myself in this situation with my kids I just tell my kids the truth about the price and buy them something different. My kids are young, but I figure they might as well understand how things work sooner than than later.

Amazon like many many other eTailers use an algorithm/software that determines the pricing which can change several times a day. It's based on market cost, availability, location of stock...up to 20 different points of information. It's not someone that is sitting there going "A HA!....let's gouge them Jeff!"

It's not a flawless system, but usually you'll find that the algorithms favor the buyer since the more aggressive ones will try to offer the best pricing and Amazon can be pretty aggressive with any stock that sits more than 30 days. When you have the last Tickle Me Elmo....all bets are off.

Also, those two items are not really being sold by Amazon, but on the Amazon Marketplace. I really don't think they have any control over the prices third parties charge.

Ah, the Amazon Marketplace. Either you find what you want for super cheap or you find out you need a small fortune for it. I'm guessing those toys are discontinued. If anyone is still selling them in a year from now, they'll be going for over $100, I'll bet.

This is why I've never owned a copy of Lynch's Eraserhead. :(

If memory serves, if you hop over to Broadway the prices are a little lower

Ah, bacon wrapped hot dogs. Back when it was a delicious yet disgusting thing to eat off of someone's push cart in downtown LA. Now Weinerschnitzel has them; I refuse. I know it won't be the same

Are you crazy? That will stunt them emotionally and lead to major psychological issues when they become adults. :D
